Coupla Prog - Sprite SWF Sessions Vol. 2 - CD

LHC – 2

SOLD OUT

Coupla Prog from South-West-Germany actually played very individual underground or progressive music. Heavy blues rock, electronic music, free style, occassional classical music references and echoes of post SYD BARRET era PINK FLOYD; VANILLA FUDGE but also PROCOL HARUM distinguished the sound of the band. Coupla Prog productions were extremly varied, never commercially oriented but always homogenous and exiting music, which occasionally diverged from the well travelled tracks of Kraut and progressive rock. Talented craftsmen, they captured the Zeitgeist of the era. All tracks recorded from the original Master's studio tape on 26.02.1970 and 16.04.1971, remastered in Super-bit mapping sound quality.

FASHION PINK - ...to brainstorm SWF Sessions Vol. 3 - CD

LHC – 3

SOLD OUT

Fashion Pink were formed in 1968 by Roland Schaeffer. During their sessions in 1970/71: The origins of the band Fashion Pink can be traced back to experiences of three schoolmates from Baden-Baden (South-west Germany), who decided to form a contemporary Underground progressive rock band, having already played in various beatgroups. These young and enthusiastic guys, all well educated on their instruments from early age on, developed a complex and refined music. Influenced by such acts like "JETHRO TULL CARAVAN SOFT MACHINE and FRANK ZAPPA" but also "JIMMY HENDRIX, BEATLES and ROLLING STONES", the boys created a varied and exciting music, which diverged from the well travelled tracks of Kraut and progressive rock.

€ 15.00

Blast Furnace, originally recorded in 1971, plus one bonus track: This is one of the best Danish albums, now for the first time released on CD. Brilliant song writing in the tradition of 'The Beatles', 'Jehtro Tull' and 'Pretty Things' (during their fertile period from 1968-1970), but none of them met with much commercial success. Blast Furnace never became a victim of excessive, long instrumental doling like some of their contemporaries. Superb hard-progressive rock with real strong guitar flashes, wild-tough vocals and razor-sharp instrumental breaks balanced between electric guitar, Hammond organ and flute. With Arne Würgler (pre PAN) bass, cello and Niels Vangkilde guitar, Thor Backhausen organ, flute and Tom Mc Evan lead vocals drums, all later joined CULPEPPER'S ORCHARD.

SITTING BULL - Trip Away - CD

LHC – 15

€ 15,00

Originally released on CBS in 1971, and now for the first time on CD. These 4 guys from Bremen (Nothern Germany) played with US Westcoast feel in some ways comparable to Quicksilver, but with the unique Kraut flavour. Electric and accoustic guitars with occasional keyboards dominate the jamming sound. Outstanding is the title track Trip Away - really a good commitment, that will be hold within the 11 mins! From the masters and informative booklet!

LIFE - Spring - CD + bonus tracks

LHC – 16

€ 15.00

Two guys, half American and half German plus two guys from Munich recorded this album 1971 for CBS, produced by Julius Schittenhelm (famous of OHR-productions). Mr. Albert Show - Mr. Albert Show - CD

LHC – 21

SOLD OUT

First album (1970) of underrated Dutch band. A powerful collection of freaky, powerful progressive rock tracks with psychedelic leanings, dominated by composer, vocalist flute and sax player Bertus Borgers. Their music style was quite original and reminds sometimes to early Colosseum with frenetic sax and fuzz guitar riffing; also good use of organ and electric piano. A well done album which should have a wider audience. Informative booklet with band history by Bertus Borgers. From the masters. Secret tip! A must for every prog rock-fan.

RUFUS ZUPHALL - Weiß der Teufel - CD + bonus tracks

LHC – 29

€ 15.00

The 1st album 'Weiss der Teufel' (1971) has gradually gained legendary status. All tracks were recorded live in the studio, resulting in a raw and unpolished sound. The side-long title track developed into a very twisted and frenetic flute solo! Some people regard this track as one of the finest moments of German rock. 'Weiss der Teufel' is a great album, typifying the raw-edged, largely instrumental early progressive rock. Here it comes with original album sleeve cover art, informative booklet in known LONG HAIR-tradition and with lots of bonus tracks (over 70 minutes).

RUFUS ZUPHALL - Phallobst - CD + bonus tracks

'Avalon And On' is the title of the 3rd album, previously unreleased on CD. It contains material from 1972 planned to be released as the official 3rd album. But before a record deal took place the band split off. The tracks were released as a part of a 4 LP box by Little Wing in 1989. The music is more in the vein of 'Phallobst'. Two long tracks (over 12 minutes) and some more song oriented stuff show once more the great talent of Rufus Zuphall. BLACKBIRDS - Touch Of Music - CD

LHC – 39

€ 15.00

In their book 'The Crack In The Cosmic Egg', Allan and Morgan Freeman make the following comments: 'They had moved on to a classical spiced rock music of great invention, blending heavy and spacy styles with great finesse. Strong songs form the basis of most tracks, all of which are sufficiently long enough to give plenty of room for solos from flute, violin, guitar and keybords. Stylistically The Blackbirds here come pretty close to Italian bands of the era like New Trolls, Panna Fredda, and also had much in common with British bands like Skin Alley or Jody Grind. It's a shame that they never made a third album'.

KOLLEKTIV - Live 1973 - CD

LHC – 40

€ 15.00

Kollektiv is well known because of their LP in 1973 on Brain Label, produced by Conny Plank. They produced an incomparable, unmistakeable sound with echoes of Organisation and early Kraftwerk: spacey but melodic, elevated yet rocking, innovative: progressive in the best sense, consequent in the realisation of intent, forging new musical territory without denying its roots.

THE SINGING END - Listen To The Music- CD + bonus track

LHC – 41

€ 10.00

Originally released in the beginning of 1971 this extremely rare and terrific album is now available for the first time on CD. The six lads from Cologne/Germany played a fine sort of pop music with psychedelic influences similar to the groups on the 'Great British Psychedelic Trip', Vol. 1-3 Compilations. Gentle melodies, excellent harmony vocals and rich instrumentation (including fuzz-guitar, flute, organ and occasionally orchestrations) show the musicians great talent and remind to the wonderful late sixties. After The Singing End called it a day, a few members founded Tanned Leather and recorded two albums and a few 7' on the famous Harvest Label. In the late seventies bandleader and composer Rainer Pietsch did arrangements for Queen an ELO. The CD contains the first non-LP 7' as Bonustracks and comes with comprehensive booklet. Great music for all time!!

A total 75 minutes music, great stuff!

B.B.BLUNDER - Worker's Playtime - CD

LHC – 46

€ 10,00

The album came out in early 1971, under the title 'Workers' Playtime' in a sleeve designed (amongst other things) to look like a copy of the Radio Times, with the songs and lyrics printed-out in the gatefold - to resemble the programme schedules. The idea seemed pretty funny at the time (especially the band on the cover in boiler suits, bus uniforms etc.) but today has lost some of its charm. Also who now remembers the radio programme 'Workers' Playtime'? The name B. B. Blunder was hardly a killer either. It arose during the less than successful month at Island, when engineer Chris Kimsey scribbled on a tape-box - containing less than wonderful tapes - 'B. B. (ie Brian & Brian) Blunder' (ie screw-up). Great. The point is that the name and package bear so little relation to the music inside that most people ignored the album. Also, it has to be said, that like the second Blossom Toes album, it came out at a time when such music was unfashionable. Rock fans at the time were into Yes, ELO and Alice Cooper. In fact overall the music is really a continuation of the second Blossom Toes album. A little funkier in parts, a bit jazzy in places and - dare one say it - a bit more sophisticated, but undeniably melodic. Once again it failed to set the charts alight, which is a pity because it really was one of the best albums of the early 70's. By general consent and agreement the 'Blunder' name has been dropped for the re-issue, in favour of what it really was - a second version of Blossom Toes.

BLACKBIRDS - Touch Of Music - LP

The distinctive feature of the music was its very refined musical structure. Songwriter Werner Breinig had begun writing down the titles on sheets of music, not least since Peter Bely, although an excellent note reader, was less able to make own contributions and had to read from the sheets of music. Therefore it was up to Werner Breinig to hand in the score for 'Touch Of Music', which got good reviews in contemporary reference books. THIRSTY MOON - Thirsty Moon - CD + bonus track

LHC – 52

€ 15,00

Originally released in 1972 on famous German label Brain this is a truly jewel of German progressive Rock. The seven band members uses elements of Jazz as a means of spontaneous expressions and melt them together with the aggressiveness and rhythm of Rock! Comparisons with Kollektiv and Xhol were made, but doesn't really do justice to the band´s music. The sound is unique. Among Thirsty Moon's characteristic were massive use of percussions and electric piano in dynamic arrangements, heavy guitar riffs, ranging from soft, mellow atmospheres to psychedelic outbursts with reversed tapes and phasing effects. Comes with one never released before bonus track and comprehensive booklet including liner notes by member Jürgen Drogies. Digitally remastered from the original mastertape. You must have it.

THIRSTY MOON - You'll Never Come Back - CD + bonus track

Despite the fact, that their first album is accepted as a classic one, many progressive Rock music lovers appreciate 'You'll never come back' as the the band's best effort. On this album Thirsty Moon developed their unique sound. No other band has so completely captured the elusive phenomena inherent in acid-Rock and placed it so effectively in a Jazz-Rock format. Thirsty Moon's sound is a mirror ball of images surrounding the listener. This is one of the best albums of that time. Comes with one never released before bonus track and comprehensive booklet including liner notes by member Jürgen Drogies. Digitally remastered from mastertape. You must have it.

THIRSTY MOON - Blitz- CD

LHC – 54

€ 15,00

his is Thirsty Moon' s 3rd album, originally recorded in 1974, released early 1975 on famous German label BRAIN. All instruments were played by Band founders Jürgen and Norbert Drogies. The album is far away considered as a solo album, the Drogies-Brothers created a truly 'band-sound' following the traces of the first two albums but without the jazz-influence. The sound on 'Blitz' is more rock-oriented added with electronic loops and synthesizer playing, still based on great guitar playing and varied drum playing. 'Blitz' still contained many unmistakable elements typical of Thirsty Moon. For the first time released an CD remastered form mastertape, it comes with three bonustracks including one 'Blitz' recording session outtake and both titles of 1977 released 7' I'll sing your song / Caught. With 12 pages booklet, never seen before photos and liner notes by bandleader Jürgen Drogies. A must for all lovers of Thirsty Moon and Krautrock.

Released for the first time this is a recording of a concert Thirsty Moon gave on 29th May 1975 in their hometown Bremen, Germany. The program shows titles from the beginning of the band and new tracks neither released on an album before nor after the concert. The band, now as a four piece, played for their life dominated by guitar and keyboard playing. Improvisation on old titles and new songs show the band at it's best. The original tape was restored and the sound is surprisingly good. Comes with fully coloured 12 pages booklet, never seen before photos and liner notes by Jürgen Drogies. Highly recommended. ODIN - SWF Session - CD

LHC – 56

€ 15.00

Founded in summer 1971 in Germany by German organ player Jeff Beer, Dutch guitarist Rob Terstall and English bass player Ray Brown and drummer Stuart Fordham ODIN is one of German-Rockmusic-history greatest mystery. Information about the band are rather rare and with this CD all lovers of progressive rock music of the early seventies will be excellent informed about this great band. The music is played by well educated musicians who play a high level guitar and organ dominated progressive rock. After the release of there one and only album on the famous Vertigo label in 1972, ODIN were invited by German radio SWF to produce 4 titles for a radio show in February 1973. A 12-minutes version of 'Live is only' and a 11-minutes version of the Zappa composition 'King Kong' are fine examples for ODIN's terrific musicianship. 'Oh no' (6:30) and the Terstall composition 'Turnpike lane' make the radio recording session complete. In addition to the radio recordings there is a bonustrack from a concert in autumn 1971 titled 'Make up your mind' (13:10) which is an impressive example of the bands early works. All titles are digitally remastered. The booklet contains a comprehensive band history with a lot of rare photos. Don't miss this truly gem.

ODIN - Live At Maxim - CD

This live concert from September 1971 is an impressive documentation of ODIN during the bands identification process. ODIN, well-known because of their album on famous label Vertigo´s recorded 1972, did during their lifetime a lot of concerts. Founded in summer 1971, ODIN played, beside their own material, titles of their favorites, for example Frank Zappa, King Crimson, Neil Young and others. On this CD you have Neil Young titles such as´Ohio' and ´Cimarron Girl', King Crimsons classic th 21th Century Schizoid Man', Zappa's ´Oh No' and ´Peaches En Regalia' as special ODIN versions. Also, ODIN´s ´Silver Dollar', a 20-minutes long epic (not on the album and not on the CD 'SWF SESSION 1973'). Booklet comes with personal liner notes by bandleader Jeff Beer and a lot of rare and previous unseen photos, ca. 70 minutes. A must for all lovers of the genre!

ODIN - Odin - CD

LHC – 58

€ 15.00

CD-Reissue of German/English/Dutch outfit ODIN. Their one and only album on famous German label Vertigo, originally released in 1972, is a truly gem of the golden age of Progressive Rock. Four excellent musicians show their great talent, especially organ player Jeff Beer and guitarist Rob Terstall, driven by great rhythm section Ray Brown on bass and drummer Stuart Fordham. The album's highlight is opening track 'Life is only'. This is an absolutely great 12-minutes number with raging, dissonant Hammond B-3 work, refined song constructions and very good guitar and vocal work. Another highlight is a 8-minutes version of Quartermass classic 'Gemini' with features also a long and impressive B-3 organ solo. 'Clown' closes the original album out with some heavy instrumental firepower from Jeff Beer keyboards and strong vocals. Bonustrack is a 14-minutes live version of Frank Zappa's 'Oh No' with an impressive drum-solo by Stuart Fordham. CD comes with a comprehensive booklet including personal liner notes by Ray Brown, press reviews and lot of rare photos. Hot stuff and highly recommended.

WOLFGANG DAUNER QUINTETT - The Oimels - CD

LHC – 59

€ 15.00

Wolfgang Dauner, one of the few internationally renowned German jazz musicians, was born in Stuttgart on Dec. 30, 1935. Oddly enough, having learnt to play the piano as a child, he eventually graduated from the conservatory in Stuttgart with a major in “trumpet”. Yet, it is the piano that remains his great love. He fancied contemporary jazz and, in 1963, founded his first own band: The Wolfgang Dauner Trio, with Eberhard Weber playing the bass and Fred Braceful on the drums. He would continue playing with these musicians well into the 1970ies. Dauner is extremely important with regard to modern jazz and jazz rock in Germany, and his efforts can be compared to the spade work Miles Davis did for jazz and jazz rock in the USA. Having participated in various jazz bands in the early 1960ies, Dauner was already a jazz veteran before he founded his own band. His first albums belong to the genre of experimental modern jazz, influenced by Bill Evans, Steve Lacy, Sun Ra etc. The albums he published until 1969 will primarily appeal to “pure” jazz fans. The acme of psychedelic music in 1968/69 created new possibilities. Dauner and several other excellent young jazz musicians were sick of the jazz of the time turning increasingly cliché, and decided to disregard all existing rules. They did to jazz what Faust was going to do to rock music a couple of years later. A first result was the extraordinary album FÜR, released in the summer of 1969, which can hardly be called jazz, but is much rather an experiment aimed at overcoming limitations. Musical revolution for its own sake. This was also expressed in the cover notes, where the musicians explained what the album was about, e.g. the record had to be played inside out and was going to destroy itself when played.

MURDER IN THE CATHEDRAL - Afraid of ... - CD

LHC – 60

€ 10.00

Amazingly underrated French neo-psychedelic band. Arised from the ashes of The Heretic Dreams Murder in the Cathedral was found in the beginning of the 90ties by Brothers Stephane (guitar, keyboards, vocals) and Pascal Moru (bass, keyboards) and drummer Gilles Lepron. Influenced by new groups like Plasticland, Prisoners and in the tradition of 13th Floor Elevator, Chocolate Watchband or Plastic Cloud, the boys tried to create their own sound. Their first eponymous album (entired as Bonusalbum on this CD), released in 1996, shows a mixture of guitar-oriented neo-psyche in the vein of Plastic Cloud, Morgen and Grateful Dead. It consists of 8 titles, instrumental pieces alternating with vocal (sung in English) ones. It was very positively received in the neo-psychedelic underground and the limited edition of 500 was sold out within a few months. 2nd album 'Afraid of...' saw the light of day in 1999. Now the music is much more structured and contains less jam-like passages. According to the reviewers the crucial sound influences rage from the Byrds to Bevis Frond, combing the San Francisco acid sound of the 60ties with oriental sounds. Again the album (limited edition of 500) was sold out within a few months. Although Long Hair is specialised in psychedelic/progressive-music of the 60ties and early 70ties, we like to present all lovers of psychedelic-music this outstanding band. All titles are digitally remastered from original tape. Booklet comes with extensive personal linernotes by guitar player and singer Stephane Moru including rare and unseen photos. Don't miss this CD!

This legendary eponymous album, originally released on famous label Brain in 1973, is a fine example for the various styles German rock of the early 70´s (Krautrock) represented. On their first album Kollektiv produced an incomparable, unmistakeable sound with echoes of 'Organisation 'and early'Kraftwerk'. Spacey but melodic, elevated yet rocking. Innovativ, progressive in the best sense. This is a true German rock classic. Comes with 4 Bonustracks (28 minutes) with a different line-up which was influenced by King Crimson´s 'Red- album-phase' of the mid-70ties. Superb guitar work over hypnotizing rhythms. A must.

CONCEPT - Invasion - CD

LHC – 65

€ 10.00

Originally released 1979 on Reveal, Concept´s 1st album 'Invasion' is truly a highlight of Canadian Psychedelic and Acid Rock. Its undoubted relevance to connoisseurs of Psychedelic and ACID Rock finds valid in the group´s multiple talents playing music of the late Sixties /early Seventies in the late Seventies and early Eighties. Maybe a little bit anachronistic then, but today a real killer for all lovers of the genre. Musically Concept´s Invasion reminds sometimes to the early recordings of Amon Düül II with flaming guitar extensions, occasionally strange sound effects and surprising hooks. Guitar player 'Peter Riden', was the main creative force in the band, although on both albums the songwriting and music credits are shared around the band. Bonustracks are very rare 7' Eliminate the bill/Pour une faveur'. CD comes with comprehensive fully colored booklet with linernotes and lyrics. Don´t miss this very rare nugget. Original album is very expensive, This is a must-have for all lovers of Psychedelic /Acid Rock.

The band had refined their musical abilities and created a monster. Great melodies, flaming guitar tunes excellent organ and keyboard work and absolutely great vocals all over show Concept at its best. Don´t miss this album. You´ll want to hear it again and again. 10 Titels digitally remastered. Comprehensive booklet with all lyrics. Absolutely high recommended!

Orange Wedge was established around 1968 in Baltimore, Maryland. The group evolved from Greg & the Originals. Members were Greg Coulson (lead vocals), Fred Zang (rhythm guitar, vocals), and Don Cowger (bass). In 1968 they added Craig Krixer (lead guitar), Dave Burgess (keyboards) and Tom Rizzo (drums). Krixer came up with the name Orange Wedge. The rock band began playing many teen centers, and school dances. After a brief illness and hospital stay in early 1969 Coulson rejoined the band. They began playing on regular basis quickly becoming one of the top hard rock bands in Baltimore. Orange Wedge could be seen at all the local clubs in Maryland, Delaware, Virginia and West Virginia. Zang and Krixer left the group in 1969 and joined Black Foot Smoke. Zang played guitar and / or bass for a lot of other groups. He is still active in the music business. The group that created the records existed between 1971 and 1975. When the group decided to do there own music, guitarist Joe Farace (ex-Fabulous Monarchs, Cabbage) brought his basic ideas to the group. Coulson was responsible for the lyrics. The entire band created the arrangements. The first record entitled 'Wedge' was recorded and mixed in Baltimore at Flite Three Studios in 1972. Five hundred copies were made which were distributed a few local stores, and several labels for a possible deal. The remaining records were sold out at shows when the group performed. In 1973 Burgess left the band becoming a member of Patch. Their second album was released in 1974 titled 'No One Left But Me' and was recorded at Sheffield Studios with special guests Mark O'Connor, and Jay Graboski of Oho. This time a thousand copies were pressed and distributed in the same way. The group performed the songs live at their shows. They were also heard on the local rock radio station. The group was never offered a contract for either release. In 1975 Joe Farace left the band. Coulson and Rizzo continued the group which finally called it a day in late 1978. Both Orange Wedge LPs have been reissued in the 00's in the States and also have been reissued as a 2 LP German import on 'Little Wing'. THORUP, PETER WITH FRIENDS - Wake up Your Mind- CD + 6 bonus tracks

LHC – 69

€ 15.00

Peter Thorup, born on 14th Dec. 1948, not least due to the many years he worked with Alexis Korner one of Denmark's most renowned and internationally known musicians, shaped the Blues scene in Denmark as a guitarist, composer and producer. From the early 1960ies until just before his death (3rd August 2007) he played with numerous international and also with well-known Danish musicians. Without making the claim to be complete, here is a list of the most important stages of his remarkable career that was tragically wrecked by alcohol. As far as we know his first recording was the single 'I'm wild about you' by The Blackpools, published in 1965. In 1966 he joined The Beefeaters, whose musical style then turned towards blues-rock. The Beefeaters recorded two albums for Sonet (The Beefeaters, 1967 and Meet You There, 1969). In 1967 The Beefeaters gained national reputation as the supporting act of the Jimi Hendrix Experience, John Mayall Blues Band and Pink Floyd on their tours in Denmark. Both Beefeater records feature classic blues-rock similar to the John Mayall and Fleetwood Mac LPs recorded at that time. In 1968 he started working with Alexis Korner during a tour of Scandinavia, where The Beefeaters not only appeared as Korner's supporting act, but presented their own material, too. By way of returning this favour, Alexis Korner participated in two titles on The Beefeater's second album 'Meet You There'.

NOWY, RALF - Lucifer´s Dream - CD

LHC – 72

€ 15.00

For the first time on CD this album of German flute and sax player Ralf Nowy, originally released in 1973 on Global (26.015-8U), is a quiet tip for all lovers of the genre. Inspired by the burgeoning Krautrock scene Nowy found his own supergroup with top musicians Paul Vincent and Keith Forsey (Hallelujah LHC 25) and others from the Munich scene. Lothar Meid, bass (Amon Düül II) contributes as a guest on one title as well as Al Gromer, sitar (Amon Düül II). Lucifer´s Dream was therefore a melting pot of almost everything from psychedelic pop onto slightly jazz influences, with experimental and ethnic diversions, a complex musical suite with a great deal of invention (so the Freeman Brothers in ´A Crack In The Cosmic Egg'. Indeed Paul Vincent and Keith Forsey are responsible for a great psychedelic rock feeling. Nowy himself and Al Gromer give the album an ethnic message. Outstanding titles are ´Shiwa's Dance' (08:40) with a great Al Gromer on sitar and 'Tschad' with a catching melody played by Nowy on flute and a percussive background, you will never forget. Digitally remastered from original master tape, CD shows a brilliant sound. It comes with band story, photos etc. Highly recommended.

CANNABIS INDIA - SWF- Session 1973 - CD

Another forgotten pearl from the vaults of radio station SWF, Germany. When he heard Keith Emerson for the first time he changed his instrument and played organ with great enthusiasm. Together with drummer Rüdiger Braune (in the 80ies with Gianna Nannini) and furious bass-player Dirk Fleck Cannabis India run through their pieces with infernal speed but also with a sense of drama. Nearly 12minutes epic 'Lapis' and 11 minutes adaption of Beethovens 9th show what for Cannabis India music was all about. CD comes with 2 bonus tracks from follow-up band Universe. HABOOB - Haboob - CD

LHC – 75

€ 15,00

First official CD-release of mysterious one-off project, co-led by 3 US expatriots living in Munich, Germany: Keyboardist Jimmy Jackson, drummer George Green and Guitarist William Powell. Major point of interest for most progressive and psychedelic rockfans is Haboobs very significant connection with Amon Düül II. Bandleader Jimmy Jackson plays organ on Amon Düüls Albums 'Dance of The Lemmings' and 'Wolf City'. He also played organ on many LPs of Embryo (Embryos Rache, Steig aus, Rock Session) and has further numerous studio credits (for example: Doldinger's Passport, Tangerine Dream 'Electronic Meditation'). On Haboob Jackson effects-laden organ and mellotron (here called 'choir-organ) are quite prominent. LP is comprised of a free improvisation, a very Hendrix-inspired Blues and some pretty straight forward funk-rock pieces. The end result is a collaboration between Amon Düül II and early Funkedelic. The music has a lot of appeal and those who are interested in a fusion of Euro-psychedelic rock with hints of funk should definitely seek this one out. Digitally remastered from original mastertapes and with bandstory. Great stuff!

PUPPENHAUS - Jazz macht Spazz, SWF-Session - CD

LHC – 76

€ 15.00

No progressive rock music fan should be misled by the album title 'Jazz macht Spazz', a bowdlerization of 'jazz makes fun', this is progressive jazz-rock at its best. Büdi Siebert (flutes and saxes), Herbert Binder (gt), Frank Fischer (bass), later with Release Music Orchestra, Thomas Rabenschlag (keys) and drummer Bea Maier (later with Zomby Woof and Moira), all well trained on the instruments, played a varied, inventive, melodic and often furious kind of music with lots of Krautrock magic influenced by Frank Zappa, King Crimson, Soft Machine and Weather Report. 5 titles on this CD were recorded at German radio station SWF, 2 titles are live recordings (taped from the soundboard), all in all 77 minutes of great flute and sax playing, furious and lyrical guitar and bass work, hypnotic rhythm patterns and perfect keyboard sounds. Hard to believe, that Puppenhaus never recorded an album. In 1980 Büdi Siebert with friends recorded an album under the name 'Herrgottsax', which also will be released in the next month on Long Hair. Digitally remastered from original master tapes. CD comes with comprehensive booklet, band story by the musicians, many photos and especially with a wonderful cover based on a painting by drummer Bea Maier. Highly recommended

MAMMUT - Mammut - CD + bonus track

LHC – 70

€ 15.00

1st official CD release of one of the most legendary German small label pressed albums. Originally released in 1971, this album is an intense and bombastic hybrid between heavy fuzz acid guitar, instinctive free rock improvisations and some lyrical, classical influenced interludes/fragmentes. Mammut played in an impressive and comvincing manner their conception of an psychedelic rock opera. For that each title includes the name Mammut. The opening track 'Bird Mammut' is a groovy, percussive, crazy psychedelic affair featuring an avalanche of drums, trippy organs, bluesy e-guitar and wistfull flute passages. 'Classical Mammut' delivers a short piano interlude, a pleasant melodic moment. 'Mammut ecstacy' is a fuzzy heavy psychedelic composition with furious rhythms, an efficient bass guitar leading theme and some nice keyboard moves. 'Foot Machine Mammut' alternates a bluesy popsong with free guitar jams accompanied by Hammond organ. Perhaps parts of the first Embryo album are comparable to this. 'Nähgarn Mammut' is their attempt to be more lyrical and melodic, while the album closes with 14 minutes of 'Mammut opera', which show Mammut at their best. Dark sounds with hints of Amon Düül II, heavy blues rock with all sorts of strange, ethnic and gothic touches combined in their music. Altough the band themselves quoted Deep Purple in Rock as a major influence, their spirit was purely krautrock. Their sole album is a legendary rarity. CD comes with 1 Bonus Track, comprehensive booklet, digitally remastered. A Classic! Don´t miss it!

PAPA ZOOT BAND - Last Concert - CD

LHC – 78

€ 15.00

Great lost band from Frankfurt, Germany. In 1973/1974 Papa Zoot Band played all over Germany, mainly in clubs but also on festivals (German Pop Meeting 1st and 2nd February 1974 in Essen, Grugahalle). Lutz Sommer guitar, Robby Matthes bass, voc, Reinhard 'Tammy' Grohe organ(Ex-Nosferatu !) and Christian Engel drums, voc. played mainly long tracks, very melodic but also with a sense of drama comparable to Nektar, Eloy, Jane or Pink Floyd. Outstanding 20 minutes title 'Fly away' could be a long track by Pink Floyd of the Meddle/Wish you were here/Animals-era without being an imitation. The other two long tracks 'I Wish' (9 minutes) and 'Friendship or Love' (11 minutes) also show throughout fantastic guitar and organ work (as you know it from 'Nosferatu' album). Unbelievable that Papa Zoot Band never made an album. 4 Years after they called it a day, Papa Zoot Band played in early 1978 a sole reunion concert at there basic venue 'Sinkkasten' in Frankfurt. This concert, which had the same playlist as their performance on German Pop Meeting 1974, proved again, that their music never lost its magic. This great performance was taped from the soundboard and has a superb sound quality. As bonus tracks there are two cover versions of great Eric Burdon song 'When I was Young' in a 9 minutes psychedelic version and the classic 'Tobacco Road' with former bandleader and great singer Ernst Nadler (nickname: Papa Zoot) who left Papa Zoot Band in early 1973. CD comes with comprehensive booklet, photos from their performance at the German Pop Meeting, 1974 (a. o. with Guru Guru, Kraan, Nektar, Eloy). Digitally remastered. Secret tip and a must have for all lovers of the genre.

AERA - Humanum Est - LP

LHC – 43

OUT OF STOCK € 18,00

Great first album of near Nuremberg (Bavaria, Germany) based band re-released on vinyl for the first time. After he left famous 'IHRE KINDER', guitarist Muck Groh looked for new musicians to play his idea of German progressive rock. With sax- and flute player Klaus Kreuzeder he found, after a lot of changing line-ups, a congenial partner to create a sound not only in the tradition of Bavaria jazz-rock oriented bands like Embryo, Out of Focus, Missus Beastly etc. but also with that certain Krautrock feel, that led the music to an unique style, originating as a highly inventive fusion band with strong percussion, driving rhythms and lots of space for solos from guitar, sax and flute (Crack in the cosmic egg). Humanum Est presented a most proficient instrumental band with a strong identity with multi-tracked guitar-riffing and near ever-present wind solos, a real classic of the genre. Long tracks like 'Papa Doing', Demmerawang' 'Hodibbel' or 'Sechs-Achtel' give an idea what the musicians were able too. While there live-performances - they toured near all the time - they often played hour long versions of their classics to their enthusiastic affiliates (comparable to KRAAN). Remastered from original Tape, comes with insert (Bandstory/Photos). A must have.

Second album of this great German band for the first time re-released on vinyl. The line-up had a little bit changed. Drummer Wolfgang Teske was replaced by Lucky Schmidt (of Wind fame) and due to the addition of violin player Christoph Krieger the sound was a touch more varied but mostly in the vein of 'Humanum Est'. Again great melodies, driving rhythms and lots of space for solos from guitar, sax and flute and in addition from violin. Long tracks like their classics 'Mechelwind' and 'Elephen Elephants' show the bands' impressive ability to create atmosphere, passion and force. Absolutely great stuff. Remastered from the original tape, Comes with 4 p. insert. A must have.

€ 12.00

From the vaults of radio station SWF (today SWR) and previously unreleased, this fantastic group with a rather unusual instrumentation (flutes, bass, drums) blow your ears away. They played music you probably haven't heard before. Call it Free rock, living new jazz or just extremely good music, this trio is far out of any limitations. The music of the Dieter Bihlmaier Selection possesses genuine power, where explosive eruptions alternate with lyric moments. On repeated listening the music develops an irresistible pull that we wish to share with all lovers of 'good music'. These recordings are without any doubt not only of high musical value, they are also an absolute rarity, since unlike the two albums of the Dieter Bihlmaier Selection, they were recorded just in the trio formation flute, bass and drums and without the participation of the vibraphone player. The SWF-Recordings 1973 of Dieter Bihlmaier Selection are an outstanding musical achievement. CD comes with full coloured 12 pages booklet including band history and a lot of photos. Digitally remastered from the original master tape. If you want to listen to more...... listen to Dieter Bihlmaier Selection The SWF-Recordings 1973.

STUD - The SWF-Session 1972 - CD

LHC – 81

€ 12.00

Another true classic from the SWF (German Radio Station) vaults comes with the STUD recordings from summer 1972. At that time the STUD members had said 'farewell' to their English record label Decca and spent most of their time on the Continent, mainly in Germany where they were rather successful. With John Weider on violin and guitar they had just an album (September) out on BASF and played a lot of Club gigs and festivals. During their 1972 tour they were invited by radio station SWF to play a recording session at radio stations main studio U1 in Baden-Baden. There were two sessions that took place in April and Mai 1972. STUD recorded titles from their first and second album but varied the material to give the recordings a special claim. From hard rocking 'Good Things', to fourteen minutes epic title 'Horizon' and shining ballad 'Make Me High' these recordings are an impressive prove of the bands musical bandwidth and the bandmembers' excellent technical skills. CD comes with band story. Digitally remastered from the original tape. For the first time on CD. Don't miss it.

AERA - Mechelwind - 2 CD

LHC – 83/84

€ 18.00

This double CD (1. 44:15 / 2. 41:41) unites absolute rarities of famous German band Aera. AERA founded in 1972 by 'Ihre Kinder' guitarist Muck Groh and 2066 & Then keyboard player Steve Robinson were in their very beginnings, when they recorded their special extended version (26 minutes) 'Mechelwind Suite' of their later classic title 'Mechelwind' (on album 'Hand und Fuss', LHC 44, vinyl-edition). The Mechelwind Suite is divided into 5 parts and is rather different from the later album-version, not only because of Steve Robinson's excellent keyboard playing but also because of Muck Groh's fine guitar playing and Klaus Kreuzeder's pleasant sax tunes. CD 1 finishes with two SWF-recordings 'Hodibbel' and 'Mechelwind' from Oktober 1973 again with 2066 & Then keyboarder Steve Robinson. CD 2 contains a live performance of AERA from 23.12.1973 with the same line up as on CD 1. Highlights are the 15-minutes-version of 'Hodibbel' and 12-minutes-version of 'Papa Doing'. The recordings show AERA at their very best during their first decade. Both CDs are digital remastered from the original tapes. Double CD comes with comprehensive booklet with a lot of unseen photos and band history told by founder-member Steve Robinson. A must have.

THE VOID'S LAST STAND - A Sun By Rising Set - CD

LHC – 85

€ 10.00

Besides the releases of recordings of the golden age of progressive-, kraut- and psychedelic rock from the end of 60ies to the end of the 70ies Long Hair decides currently also to release recordings of young bands creating corresponding sounds of today. First release comes from Aachens young and extraordinary The Void's Last Stand. 'A Sun By Rising Set' is their ambitious debut album. The four members, all in their mid-twenties, are Jonas Wingens (vocals, guitar), Geoffrey Blaeske (guitar), Raschid Touzani (bass) and Ray Dratwa (drums). The album was recorded during the summer of 2009. The four young musicians' complex and demanding work consists of only two compositions while coming up with more than 45 minutes of material. The listener will get confronted with quite a depth of ideas, with dynamics ranging from clear and catchy parts as well as others appearing almost intangible. Once engaged with lunatic and floating changes in harmony, rhythm and time signature you'll find yourself recompensed with an exciting journey to a wondrous place where forgotten myths and alchemical chants mix up with surreal worlds between dream and nightmare and which is barely escapable - a subconsciously existent land where the sun rises with its own set and where time has seemingly halted. TVLS sees themselves in the tradition of classic progressive bands like Van Der Graaf Generator, Nektar, Yes, ELP. Rush, Gentle Giant, Magma as well as more contemporary prog bands like The Mars Volta, Sieges Even, Spastic Ink, Birds and Buildings, Hella, Ungdomskulen, High Wheel, Frost, The Tangent etc, yet they are most of all seeking to create something fresh, original and truly progressive. These two long tracks are really outstanding. This is music, you hardly haven't heard before. The musicians play perfect and the production is brilliant. Booklet contains the worth reading lyrics. Long Hair is very proud to present this young band and their great first album. Missing this album is outrageous. Don't miss it. Limited edition.

WIND - Seasons - LP

LHC – 82

SOLD OUT

The late sixties witnessed a colourful and lively rock music scene in the Franconian region of Greater Nuremberg/Erlangen. At that time, Steve (Bernd) Leistner was already touring as soloist (vocals/guitar) and lead singer with the Nuremberg band "Faction". He had enjoyed his first taste of success in the region, and in 1968 Faction won the "Nuremberg Beat Band City Championship". "Bentox", among them four original Wind members, had existed since 1964. They passed for Erlangen's best band and were the recognized local heroes. In 1969 they got themselves into a so called East-Asia tour, which turned out to be a six-months troop-entertainment (with two shows daily at the very frontline) in the Vietnam war. In the end they were cheated out of their pay and even had to hawk their instruments and the equipment to pay for the flight back to Germany. This washout made a new start and the future quite difficult financially, and fighting for survival became their daily bread. In spite of the Vietnam fiasco the band didn't give up. They contacted several record companies about a contract. Miller International with their cheap label "Europa" snapped at the chance. Under the direction of producer Jochen Petersen, an LP with the anonymous fantasy name CORPORAL GANDER'S FIRE DOG BRIGADE was recorded and sold for a mere 5 DM (approx. 2.50 Euro). The band's pay was a flat fee of 5,000 DM (approx. 2,550 Euro), and no copyrights. They changed their name into "Chromosom", and soon after singer Franz Seeberger left the band. In 1970, after a concert with his new band "Flying Carpet", they asked Steve Leistner to join them as lead singer and professional musician. Miller International intended to establish a new German rock label +PLUS+, with three groups (TOMORROW'S GIFT and IKARUS from Hamburg, apart from WIND) to begin with. The temptation to make his first own record was too great to resist for a young lad of only 19. He was not only a strong voiced singer and front man, but had a creative mind and contributed considerably to the band's acquiring an independent profile and repertoire in next to no time. After the first rehearsals everybody knew that things were really getting going with this line-up. The chemistry was right and they agreed that they wanted to play own compositions only. On stage they intended to "roll up their sleeves" and give everything. "The band comes first, then nothing for a long time, then you, your wife, mother, dog or whatever" that was their maxim. In spite of self-made amplifiers and equipment, instruments that were pawned in parts, without an own sound technician (they mixed the sound themselves from on stage), they wanted to "blow" away any obstacle that got in the way to their "international breakthrough". This marked the birth of the new group and the new name "WIND".

Originally released on small label 'Aronda' in 1972 Dzyan's eponymous 1st Album was their most rock oriented one. Similar to their SWF-recordings 6 month later Dzyan played a slightly jazzy form of progressive rock with hints of Wolfgang Dauner, flashes of Zappa's Hot Rats and even some Van Der Graaf Generator styled saxophone-fronted diversions. As the Freeman Brothers write in their classic book 'The Crack In The Cosmic Egg' an 'intriguing album that is still fresh today'. Strong expressive vocals (Jochen Leuschner), refined guitar playing (Harry Krämer) and remarkable sax tunes (Gerd Ehrmann) supported by an excellent rhythm section with extraordinaire bass player and bandleader Reinhard Karwatky and solid drummer Ludwig Braum are the characteristics of this great album, which is incomprehensible underrated in comparison with their latter albums 'Time Machine' and 'Electric Silence'.Vinyl Version comes with original cover replica and insert with band story and rare and still unseen photos. Dzyan recorded 3 albums between 1972 and 1974. Each album they released was quiet different. After the release of the first album the line-up changed and Eddy Marron was the new guitarist. The SWF-session reminds a lot to their first album. Dzyan played a slightly jazzy form of progressive rock with flashes of Zappa's Hot Rats and even some VAN DER GRAAF GENERATOR saxophone- fronted diversions. These radio studio recordings are even more rock oriented then the first album recordings. There are five titles. 4 new compositions and a longer (11:00 minutes) and different version of probably the best title from the first album 'Dragon Song'. Steels Electric/Daddy Groove is a 15 minutes suite, very inventive and with great guitar playing by Eddy Marron. ZAZ has a great ethnic feel produced by fine Zaz (Turkish stringed instrument) also played by Eddy Marron and oriented rock rhythm patterns. Finally 'Resurrection' was part of a one hour suite, Dzyan sadly never recorded. This recordings are among the best ever recordings at the SWF session studio. Remastered from the original master tape. Vinyl version has an insert with a cover painting by Helmut Wenske (never used before on a cover), band story, photos. A definitely must have!

AMOS KEY - Keynotes - The lost Tapes SWF Session 1973 - CD

LHC – 90

€ 15,00

For the first time on CD: The radio session of classical rock influenced great German krautrockers Amos Key. Amos Key owed great debts to Bach, Beethoven and Schumann, adding a heavy krautrock twist to a music closely resembling the Nice or Egg, full of angst and weird psychedelic and space-rock touches (Freeman Brothers: In A Crack In The Cosmic Egg). Amos Key lived in Munich and consisted of great organ-player Thomas Molin, congenial bass-player Andreas Gross and superb drummer Lutz Ludwig. This fairly competent outfit recorded the radio sessions before they released their famous and very rare album 'First Key' in 1973 on label 'Spiegelei'. Sadly bandleader and organ-player Thomas Molin passed away in the 90ies but bass-player Andreas Gross tells the band story in a very vivid and funny way. 24 pages booklet contains also a lot of unseen photos. Sound is perfect; remastered from the original tape. Don't miss this superb item.

DZYAN - Time Machine - LP

LHC – 91

€ 18.00

Originally released in 1973 on famous German label Bacillus, Dzyan's 2nd album 'Time Machine' showed a 'new' Dzyan line-up consisting of guitar player Eddy Marron (also playing a lot of other string instruments), bass genius, band founder and 'mastermind' Reinhard Karwatky and drummer Peter Giger. Produced by Peter Hauke and recorded and mixed by great engineer Dieter Dierks the trio performed on Time Machine a new sound mutating away from vocal-prog-rock of the first album to explore further jazz and ethnic tonalities with far more space-out and exotic improvisations to an unusual hybrid of acid-rock with serious jazz chops approaching 'Mahavishnuland'. Time Machine offers virtuous and unorthodox musicianship with a high and very own esthetic quality. Existing in a no-man's land between jazz and rock, and as a pre-cursor to the post-rock crowd of the '90s, Time Machine was well ahead of its time. A highlight in German rock history. Don't miss this first vinyl reissue transferred from original mastertape with 4 pages insert, band history, unseen photos et.al. Limited edition.

DZYAN - Electric Silence - LP

LHC – 92

€ 18,00

Originally released in 1974 on famous German label Bacillus, Dzyan's third and final album, ELECTRIC SILENCE is recognized for its daring world beat elements, and totally acidic album cover art. Dzyan refined their sound even further into improvisation and exotic sounds, mixed with weird experimentations and mysticism. ELECTRIC SILENCE offers other-worldly music of incredible beauty and strangeness, influenced by the music of Asia but taking it into far more original realms. Multi-instrumentalists Marron and Karwatky experimented with sitar, saz, tambura, mellotron, synthesizers, bass-violin, and a mysterious invented instrument called 'super-string', all merged in an extreme melting pot of styles, ideas and fertile imagination, interacting into a 'psychedelic worldgroove'; while Giger, bursting with creative power and virtuosity, holds it together with his fantastic drumming. From the weird opium-den trancesoundtrack of 'Khali' to the more funky 'For Earthly Thinking', to the even wilder tracks like 'The Road Not Taken', Dzyan crafted one of the finest and most unique works of the Krautrock era. ELECTRIC SILENCE, an amazing work on its own, rhythmically adventurous and unique jazzprog, is indeed one of the landmarks in experimental rock, a masterpiece. A highlight in German rock history. Don't miss this first vinyl-reissue transferred from original mastertape with 4 pages insert, band history, unseen photos et. al. Limited edition.

Some regard it as one of the best heavy progressive records to be made in Germany. With great guitar and organ playing and highly talented flute and sax playing, the album is an outstanding release of the first wave of the German progressive rock. MINUS TWO - SWF Session 1972 - CD

LHC – 95

€ 15.00

This is another truly gem from the SWF broadcast vaults recorded in 1972. Minus Two founded in early 1971 in Mannheim (hometown of Nine Days Wonder) by organ player Günter Kühlwein (guest musician on Dzyan's 1. Album) and drummer Walter Helbig (also played with Nine Days Wonder and AERA) played a powerful progressive music sound sometimes with a certain sense of drama, melted classical influences with blues-rock and slightly jazzy hints. Early 'Hardin & York playing' comes to mind, but Minus Two always showed their own imagination of progressive rock. All titles are self-penned and prove the musicians high level abilities playing their instruments and there are only organ and drums. Believe us, you don't miss any other instruments! This is a very complete sound by perfect trained musicians. CD contains 3 long tracks and short opener 'Sticks & Keys' from the SWF vaults plus one bonus track. All titles were remastered from original master tapes. Booklet contains band history with a lot of photos. Don't miss this limited edition! Highly recommended.

AERA - Aerabian - CD

€ 12,00

Led by original AERA ( HUMANUM EST/ HAND UND FUSS) - bandfounder, composer and guitarist Muck Groh and his colleagues from 'the early days' , drummer Wolfgang Teske and violinist Christoph Krieger, completed by bass player Jonas Gruber (son of Muck), flautist and sax player Armin Fleissner and guest singer Pia (on 3 titles), now it's time for NEUE (NEW) AERA. Founded in 2008 NEUE AERA, first of all, was a 'just for fun'- project. But very soon the musicians experienced that the old (and new) magic was (still) there and - like in the early seventies- Muck took over the leading role and composed new stuff without denying his roots of the 'old' AERA-period, heavy influenced by a progressive jazz rock and hints of Arabian/ Oriental -sounds. Guitars all over, played with incredible power, heavenly melodies, terrific hook lines, pure strength, alive and kicking, lovely vocals, emotional violin interludes, superb flute and sax playing, all held together by a perfect playing rhythm section. NEUE AERA's album 'AERABIAN' is open - minded and innovative, a logical continuation of AERA's early albums ' Humanum Est' and 'Hand und Fuss' , a real killer. 11 Tracks, playing about 65 minutes. Booklet cover is based on an painting by Muck Groh. Longhair is very proud to present this great album!

Volume 1 of the series is dedicated to Aera, one of Germany´s finest bands of this time and well known because of their albums 'Humanum Est' and 'Hand und Fuss' (vinyl version re-released on Long Hair, LHC43 and LHC44). On January 9,1975 Aera with the line-up (same as on 'Humanum Est') Muck Groh, guitar, Klaus Kreuzeder, sax and flute, Dieter Bauer, bass and drummer Wolfgang Teske, performed in an extraordinary setting-St. George´s Church in Freising, district of Munich. The idea of the concert was to open the church for contemporary music and to give the musicians the chance to interpret the Roman Catholic liturgy, the 'Holy Mass', with their music. Aera went a long with the five components of the holy mass and played two titles of their up coming album 'Humanum Est' and another three titles that were not included on any album. The titles presented during the second part of the concert were earlier versions of titles that were later released on the album 'Hand und Fuss'. Aera played more than 75 minutes. All titles were digitally remastered from original master tape. Booklets contains story and a review of the concert and rare photos. Highly recommended!

CLIFFSIGHT - Soulful Man - CD/LP

LHC – 99

CD € 12,00, LP SOLD OUT

Cliffsight, four guys from Hanau near Frankfurt, all in their early twenties, perform on their debut album a mixture of 'old' and 'young' progressive/ psychedelic rock styles combined with heavy blues rock, slightly grunge influences and stoner rock. If you listen to the music, it´s not a surprise, that Cliffsight appreciate 'old heroes' like Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and younger bands like Sleepy Sun and Crippled Black Phoenix. All these influences led them to something new and unique. Lead guitarist Felix Topitsch plays with remarkable virtuosity, power and is 'specialized' in creating superb melodies, the ever- present amazing bass lines from bass player Martin Prasche are a full attack on all senses and drummer Adrian Schein holds it together with his excellent drumming. Above all singer/ second guitarist Tim Cammerzell rules with his fantastic wide- ranged and utmost expressive voice. The album starts with 'Quatorze', a ten minutes long impressive piece of sound, which starts with soft tuneful guitar chords and sensitive vocals, soon followed by a heavy guitar riff and a drastic chorus and ends in a dramatical ' Grand Finale'. This first climax of the album is followed by heavy blues title 'Alter Ego', that shows the bluesier side of Cliffsight. 'Jasper Jazz and Billy Blues' and 'Illusion', introduced by some fine jazz chords demonstrate Cliffsight´s ability to play varied styles of heavy progrock. The album closes with 20 minutes opus 'Blue Grandma Sun', a real killer suite, which provokes just one reaction, you want to hear it once more. This album is a drug, but a healthy one! A terrific debut album!!! Cover artwork is by Helmut Wenske, well-known and famous painter of a lot of bacillus/ Bellaphon albums in the 70ties (Nektar, Dzyan, Pell Mell a.o.). A must have!

NINE DAYS WONDER - Nine Days Wonder - LP

NINE DAYS WONDER - same (green foam and double gatefold sleeve) Originally released in 1971 the first and self-titled album by Nine Days Wonder was one of the very first recordings for the newly found label Bacillus of producer Peter Hauke. Nine Days Wonder with their international line-up consisting of bandfounder and singer Walter Seyffer, Rolf Henning (guitar, piano), Karl Mutschlechner (bass) from Austria, John Earle (vocals saxophone, flute, guitar) from Ireland and drummer Martin Roscoe from England, taking inspiration from Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention, King Crimson and Soft Machine. The album's four titles were recorded by top recording engineer Dieter Dirks in his studio in Cologne. It turned out exceptional, both with regard to music and to artistic form: the music highly complex, with surprising arrangements, ranging from rough guitar riffs to the feel-good sound of acoustic guitar, unisonal baubles of guitar and saxophone, weird and harmonic songs, sudden changes of tempi - the album features such a multitude of facets that multiple hearings are required to appreciate them all, and they certainly make for entertaining listening. A musical fireworks display bubbling over with ideas that need not shun international comparison. From the artistic point of view the band had also come up with quite something. The first edition was released in a cover made of green foam, quite extraordinary and rather pricey, so the later editions featured the 'fish cover' created by Hipgnosis for the English release. This reissue is an exact production of the original first edition af the album with a cover made of green foam and double gatefold sleeve. Remastered from the original master tape the sound is brilliant. Album comes with a 4-pages insert, which contains not only the first part of the band history (the latter will follow with Nine Days Wonder albums II - IV) but also rare and unseen photos and of course the 'fish-cover' of the second edition of the albums release. This is a real gem for all the lovers of the genre. After 10 years of existing Long Hair celebrates its anniversary with this special limited edition. Don't miss it. Thanks to everyone who supported us!

FOR EXAMPLE - SWF session 1973 / Cancelled 1972 - CD

LHC – 101

€ 12,00

For Example is an another band from the SWF-broadcast vaults, with their recording they did in 1973. The band, founded in the late sixties, consisted of students of various study fields. In the beginning they played under the name 'Frida III' cover versions of sixties hits, but after they had been taken on for 2 productions by the State Theatre Tübingen, they changed their music style, added three wind players with jazz experience and formed 'For Example'. At first they played pieces of their favourite bands 'Chicago' and Blood, Sweat and Tears', but their repertoire also comprised soul numbers with horn sections. Step by step they added self composed titles and found their own music style, still influenced by their favourites. Still unsigned they were invited to the legendary 2nd German Rock Festival on Burg Herzberg in summer 1971, where all leading German groups, from 'Frumpy' to 'Guru Guru' got together and the big audience were impressed by For Example. In 1972 For Example fought in vain for the release of an album on CBS records. A demo tape had been produced at the Jankowski Studio in Stuttgart, but after a change of the management, CBS was not further interested to release the recordings. That's why the band called these titles 'Cancelled'. The SWF broadcast invited them in 1973 to do a recording session of 4 titles. This is the chance to listen to a long forgotten band. CD comes with comprehensive booklet, band history and photos. Don't miss it.

NINE DAYS WONDER - We never lost control - LP

€ 18.00

This is the first officially reissue of the 2nd album of legendary German Krautrockband Nine Days Wonder. After falling apart during their 1.British tour Nine Days Wonder called it a day in 1972 and bandleader Walter Seyffer had to search for a new band. He soon met up with also Mannheim based Michael Bundt's group Medusa, who agreed to join up and became a new incarnation of Nine days wonder. In comparison with extraordinary 1. album (also reissued in it's original green foam artwork on Long Hair, LHC 100), 'we never lost control' is more richly texted and feature a mellow progressive rock with slightly hard-rock touches and remind to David Bowie's 'Ziggy Stardust'. Without the jazzy elements of the 1. album this album is a step forward into the at that time upcoming glam- rock sound but with that special German krautrock feel. Hard to describe this highly gifted mixture: a tuneful, powerful, excellent German Krautrock document of sound! Album comes with exact reproduction of original artwork, continuing band story and rare photos (insert). Highly recommended!

HAZE - Hazecolor-Dia - LP

LHC – 103

€ 25,00

Originally released in 1972 on well known German Bacillus Label and for the first time legally reissued on vinyl, the sole album by Frankfurt based band Haze is a typical one of the Bacillus Records sound. Bacillus deemed them as important, in that they presented the LP in a unique cover -an LP size transparancy slide in the style used by Agfa. The extraordinary artwork sleeve was designed by Walter Seyffer of Nine days wonder fame. Hazecolor-dia was a Hauke and Dierks production, recorded during April 1971 at the Dierks Studio in Cologne. All five tracks had been written by bass player Dietmar Löw. Haze were amongst the first to present the uniquely German 'Hard-Rock' sound, into which they mixed the complex variety of progressive elements, featuring guitars to the fore, also with organ and flute playing but especially with strong vocals. Haze were probably inspired by the Edgar Broughton Band, Arthur Brown and Captain Beefheart all mixed to something unique to that beloved teutonic and Krautrock sound. Remastered from original tape. The album comes with the accurate reproduction of the original artwork/ album sleeve. A Highlight!

Full of ethnic (Arabic and Indian) spice with lots of the ethnic colour added by legendary guitar and sitar (et. al.) player Sigi Schwab (Embryo), oddly keyboard sounds by Wolfgang Dauner, dreamy bass patterns by Eberhard Weber and driving percussions by Fred Braceful and Roland Wittich, this is spacy, crazy, Krautrock and - a bit jazzy. Alan and Steven Freeman (The Crack In The Cosmic Egg) present this album in their 'The Krautrock Top 100'. Maybe the album was originally planned as a double-album because there are 4 more titles from the same recording session, which really knock you out. 'Kabul' (08:56) (title-name is program) is a killer, especially because of Schwabs exploding electric guitar and Webers driving bass. 'Tau Ceti' (07:15) is a wonderful dreamy delight presenting Schwabs gorgeous acoustic guitar playing. Further bonus track 'Behind The Stage' (06:35) connects Schwabs special electric guitar with a band atmospheric but rhythmic fundamental play. 'An Open Cans' (not an the CD-Version, for the first time ever released) is a 12:35 minute piece full of experimentation and reminds sometimes to album track 'Lady Blue'. This album will be a masterpiece for all time. It's unique. Remastered from the original master tapes. The sound is brilliant. Double Album comes with informative four-sided insert and a reproduction of the original album ( Silver Cover ) sleeve art. Limited edition of 1000. A must!

PAPA ZOOT BAND - SWF session 1973 - CD

LHC – 108

€ 15.00

Great lost band from Frankfurt, Germany. In 1973/ 1974 Papa Zoot Band played all over Germany, mainly in clubs but also on festivals (German Pop Meeting) 1st and 2nd February 1974 in Essen, Grugahalle. Titles 01 - 04 were recorded live at SWF-Studio U1 in Baden Baden on April 13, 1973. The titles 05 - 10 were recorded at 'Bunker', the bands rehearsal room in Frankfurt. The band played a very melodic sound but with a sense of drama comparable to Nektar, Eloy or Jane. Outstanding 20 minutes titles 'Fly away' could be a long track by Pink Floyd of the Meddle/ Wish you were here/ Animals-Era. Characteristic for the bands sound are especially the swirling organ sound played by Ex-Nosferatu organ-player Tammy Grohe. These recordings show Papa Zoot Band during there best period. Hard to believe, that there was no record company to give them a contract. The sound of the CD is brilliant. All titles were remastered from the original master tapes. CD comes with comprehensive booklet and rare photos. Secret tip! A must have for all lovers of the genre.

PELL MELL - Marburg - LP

LHC – 104

OUT OF STOCK € 18,00

This is the first album of one of the best German Krautrock-Symphonic group, Pell Mell. Originally released in 1972 on Bacillus/ Bellaphon Records Marburg saw an unique combination of psychedelic and progressive sounds, complex and lyrical with subtle classical touches handled in a manner rivalling the best Italians of the era (The Crack In The Cosmic Egg). Colourful, swirling Hammond organ, violin played by Thomas Schmitt with great virtuosity, mellotron, flute and guitar characterized Pell Mell's sound. The opening piece "The Clown and the Queen" - one of the album's highlights - blasts the ear canals with the boisterous power of the Hammond organ and "wild" singing. The adaptation of Czech composer Friedrich Smetana's "Moldau" is of timeless beauty and melancholy, resting in itself, carried by violin and Mellotron. "Friend", the last title on the first side, really puts the foot down, until the sound of a lovely flute is heard all of a sudden, followed by polyphonic singing in the style of Gentle Giant and a furiously played organ setting the tone in the end. Side 2 begins with "City Monster", reflecting the multifaceted atmosphere in a large city and ending in a bombastic final. "Alone" takes you back to the early Black Sabbath and their doom-metal-sound. Impressive, ominous and fierce! The changes in theme have everything on offer - from a heavy up to a subtle and passionate violin solo - another highlight and the finale of a first class debut album. The Album comes with reproduction of the original Cover and with insert including band story and never seen before photos and the first band poster (under the name Pell Mell Ltd.). A highlight!

MUCK GROHBIAN - Muckefuck - CD

LHC – 105

€ 15.00

Originally released in 1979, these recordings show the first solo efforts by formerly Aera leader, guitar player and composer Muck Groh. But in fact this album wasn't a solo album but could be described at the third Aera album of Aera's first decade line-up. All those great musicians like sax player Klaus Kreuzeder, drummer Wolfgang Teske, violinist Christoph Krieger and a lot of guest musicians like Alto Pappert (formerly Kraan) and Aeras second decade musicians like Matz Steinke on bass and Limbus on percussions contributed to this great album. The first 4 titles on the CD (formerly A-Side of the album) are in the tradition of the second album 'Hand und Fuß'. 'Psychochinese im Stanzwerk' reminds to Amon Düül's Deutsch-Nepal. For the first time Muck Groh uses vocals in his compositions in a folky style and 'Blinde Kuh' reminds a little bit to the early German new wave bands like Spliff or Nina Hagen Band. All in all this album shows many facets of Muck Grohs composer abilities and convinces with its clever arrangements. CD comes with comprehensive booklet with rare and unseen photos and there are 8 bonus tracks taken from a concert from 1981. Secret tip!

NINE DAYS WONDER - Only the dancers - LP

LHC – 109

€ 15.00

This is the first officially reissue of the 3rd album of legendary German Krautrockband Nine Days Wonder. Originally released in 1974 Nine Days Wonder with their 3rd album took the opportunity to do a recording session at Londons Chipping Norton Studios in September 1974. With guest musicians Dave Jackson on flute and saxes (of Van der Graaf Generator-fame) and keyboarder Steve Robinson (2066 and Then and early-AERA) the album show the band on its musical peak. The album is richly texted and features a mellow progressive rock with slightly glam-rock touches and reminds to David Bowis 'Ziggy Stardust'. Without the jazz elements of the 1st album 'Only The Dancers' is another step forward in to the upcoming glam-rock sound but with that special German Krautrock feel. Album comes with exact reproduction of original artwork, continuing band story and many rare photos (insert).

NEKTAR - Journey to the Center of the Eye - LP

LHC – 112

€ 18.00

Official release of legendary 1st album by this British band living in Germany. Nektar quoted their influences as Vanilla Fudge, King Crimson and the Beatles, yet what was revealed on their debut LP sounded more like a hybrid of Pink Floyd and Man. 'Journey to the Center of the Eye' is an extraordinary album, sounding more 1968 than 1971 with lots of tripped-out guitar and organ gymnastics, with the surreal story told in song and music (Freeman brothers in 'The Crack in the Cosmic Egg'). Remastered from the original master tapes the album sounds as brillant as never before. Contains insert with band story and lots of photos out of the archive of Helmut Wenske, big friend of the band and painter of the album sleeves (starting with 'The Tab in the Ocean'). A must have!!

NEKTAR - A Tab In The Ocean - LP

LHC – 113

€ 18.00

As great as their debut was, a more up to date progressive style was what Nektar comes up over year later with 'A Tab In The Ocean'. For a lot of fans this album results in the definitive Nektar-style. The 1st side of the album consists of one piece. 'A Tab in the Ocean' is space rock with lots of guitar and organ playing, with reminiscences of King Crimson and Moody Blues. Final titles 'Crying in the Dark' and 'King of Twilight' are hard rock as it should be, forming natural points of culmination in the musical flow. The heavy played parts are organically incorporated into the whole and do not stand isolated. Mellotron and guitar conjure up vigorous but beautiful sounds, and in spite of the powerful expression, the highly original sounds do not go under and make sure that the group demonstrates their ability once again. Album is remastered from the original master tape and sounds brilliant. There is an insert with band story and rare photos. A must have!!

THE VOIDS LAST STAND, THE - Rakash - CD

LHC – 114

'Rakash' contains 7 titles and presents an ambitious and breath taking tour de force through modern art and progressive rock styles. 16 minutes opening track 'Syrian Goddess' sounds like a further part of the 1st album, while 'She's a Ghost', 'Glass Cabinet' and 'Sail My Ship' are more song oriented but with that special TVLS understanding of modern progressive music. 10 minutes instrumental track 'Land(e)scapes and the Beauty of Number 64' is a monument of beautiful guitar melodies. TVLS 'Rakash' is influenced by some old and some new bands like Mars Volta, Sieges Even, The Tangent, Nektar, Eloy, Yes and Gentle Giant. Booklet shows a painting by Helmut Wenske (painter and designer of a lot of Nektar, Dzyan and Pell Mell album covers) and contains all lyrics. A must have for all young and old fans of the genre. Vinyl-Version is planned to release in early 2012.

LHC – 115

Official vinyl release of Hanau (near Frankfurt) group Orange Peel including their 1969 7" release "I Got No Time/ Searching For A Place To Hide" as bonus tracks. Their eponymous album is not one of the 1st heavy krautrocks efforts, but also of great historical interest. It's one of the first albums to be made in the legendary Dierks Studio in Cologne and also marked the start of (then) 17 years old drummer Curt Cress. The music on the album belongs to the category of vintage progressive rock with a lot of extended instrumental solos, not leased on "You can't change them all" covered the whole side one of the original album (now completed with the 7" track "I Got No Time"). PELL MELL - From The New World - LP

LHC – 121

€ 18.00

This is the 2nd album of one of the best German Krautrock.symphonic group, Pell Mell (1st album “Marburg”, 1972 also on Long Hair, LHC 104), originally released in 1973 on Philips. “From The New World”, similar to “Marburg”, was a combination of psychedelic and progressive sounds. Expanding the line-up with an extra keyboard player, gave Thomas Schmitt more room with his violin and “From The New World” saw them move to directly adapting classical works, not least a lengthy and radical rock rewrite of the “New World Symphony”, by Anton Dvorak, hinting at instrumental Curved Air. Pell Mells sound was characterized by colorful, swirling Hammond organ, a violin played with great virtuosity, mellotron, recorder and some guitar. Album comes with an exact reproduction of the original cover and with insert including band story and never seen before photos. The music was mastered from the original master tapes. A must have!

ALCATRAZ - Vampire State Building - LP

LHC – 122

€ 18,00

Official reissue of this German rock classic album from 1971 by Hamburg quintet Alcatraz, coming with an additional track, recorded in 1972 at the Windrose Dumont studio in Hamburg. Alcatraz largely instrumental music was related to Miles Davis “In A Silent Way”, early King Crimson and Soft Machine. Most successful was the 12 minutes “Simply Headphone Mind”. The 13 minutes title track was a long improvisation with lots of fuzz guitar. According to Dag Erik Asbjornsen “Vampire State Building” is currently one of the most intensive German albums in the jazz-rock genre, making full use of the dynamic sound range (and with that special krautrock feel). The Freeman brothers (The crack in the cosmic egg) write that the music features fuzzed guitars and effects overdose in a heavy bluesy over-the-top Krautrock akin to Frumpy and Nosferatu. Ten years after the release of the CD-Version (Long Hair, LHC 14) the recordings were newly remastered from the original master tapes for this vinyl-version. LP comes with exact reproduction of original album sleeve and additional insert with extra photos and band story. A masterpiece!

KARTHAGO - Rock 'n' Roll Testament - LP (Gimmix cover)

Probably no other Karthago album was as extensively and intensively prepared as this one with songs finally composed by Joey Albrecht. This 3rd album of Karthago was a big step foreword, produced in London and with the participation of Glenn Cornick, famous bass player of Jethro Tull. Karthago developed a more mainstream style than most Berlin acts with strong songs, jazz and funk elements, backed up by excellence musician ship. Especially Joey Albrecht, influenced by Jimi Hendrix, had a real rock star appeal. This limited edition of the album is an exact reproduction of the original gimmick cover. The album is strictly limited to 500. The sound is brilliant and digitally remastered from original master tape. SILBERBART – 4 Times Sound Razing - LP

LHC – 124

€ 18,00

First official reissue of this legendary collector`s item by this underground heavy progressive power trio from Hamburg. The album contained just four songs: 'Chub Chub Cherry' (a short heavy rock song like a freaky Cream), 'Brain Brain' (16 minutes of acid nightmares, continuously shifting tempo in amphetamine-driven mayhem), 'God' (a much more melodic attempt with powerful guitar arrangement, sounding like Black Sabbath meet Hendrix with a collective paranoia) and 'Head Tear Of The Drunken Sun' (finished at all with 12 minutes of hazardous power trio pyrotechnics). This is an extreme album in many ways: the raw power, the cranky vocals, the restless arrangements, not forgetting the ugly silver gnome on the front sleeve. For the first time the history of Silberbart is told by band leader Hajo Teschner and there are many rare photos of the group. As Dag Erik Asbjornsen says: A loveable artifact of the early seventies German rock scene! A must have! CD and Vinylversion comes with informative insert and photos from the band.

Dull Knife was a German band, who attempted to combine Deep Purple-influenced hard rock with blues rock. Dull Knife played heavy and powerful, with lots of good guitar, organ and drumming. In the closer “Day of Wrath” fuse the groups special hard rock with slightly influences of blues rock. Originally released in 1971 Dull Knifes album “Electric Indian” was recorded by famous engineer Dieter Dierks. The Freeman brothers told us, that the album had some good moments of Hendrixy cum Cream like heaviness. MIDNIGHT CIRCUS – Midnight Circus - LP + 3 bonus tracks

LHC – 119

€ 18.00

First official reissue of this fantastic German folk-, psych- and krautrockalbum, 1972 released on Bellaphon/ Bacillus. Midnight Circus` only album was recorded at the famous Dierks Studio with Peter Hauke producing. In fact Midnight Circus hailed from Cologne area and it would seem as though the idea behind Midnight Circus, being a duo with the aid of session musicians, was to emulate the cosmic folk of Witthüser + Westrupp, but with an internationally appealing English vocal bias. A success indeed, but also a touch rockier and strongly influenced by Dieter Dierks` involvement in the sessions. The atmospheric tracks featuring mellotron and flute also recall The Moody Blues and early King Crimson (Freeman Brothers in “The Crack in the Cosmic Egg”). Christian Bollmann, one of the band leaders has since become an accomplished ethno-musicologist, moving into the more ethereal realms of the new age. The recordings were remastered from the master tape and included two bonus tracks of 1971 released 7“ Coloured Is Gay/ Get It and a latter song “Seagull” from the vaults of the bands archive. LP comes with informative insert. Secret tip!

Virus - Thoughts LP + 2 bonus tracks

LHC – 127

OUT OF STOCK

Originally released in 1971 on famous German Pilz Label 'Thoughts' was the second and last album of a band which is often regarded as one of the most legendary krautrock bands. While 1st album Revelation was full of inventions and surprises within long tracks with extensive guitar workout, swirling organ and lots of improvisations, 'Thoughts' showed a different style to the debut. With two different lead vocalist (Jürgen Schäfer and Werner Vogt) Virus` music was now more song oriented, more hard-rock and blues focused. That meant a step towards more song oriented Frumpy, but with a wild psychedelic edge and lyrics about drugs and paranoia, close to Pilz label-mates Dies Irae. Album comes with detailed liner notes by Virus-Singer (also bass and guitar) Werner Vogt. For the first time officially released on vinyl. Limited edition, don't miss it! A must have!

Comes with one never released before bonus track and comprehensive booklet including liner notes by member Jürgen Drogies. Digitally remastered from the original mastertape. Weed were formed by former 'VIRUS'-members bass player Reinhold Spiegelfeld, singer Bernd Hohmann and guitarist Werner Monka after the first VIRUS incarnation split at the end of 1970. There are rumours that Uriah Heep organ player, Ken Hensley, contributed to this project simply called 'Weed'. From 1971 till today no one knows exactly what was excactly going on because unfortunately the album sleeve didn't list the line-up. There are 6 tracks on the album which were composed by concert promoter Bodo Albes and Rainer Goltermann, household producer of Phillips made sure the sessions in the Windrose-Dumont Time studio in Hamburg. Whether Hensley played on this album or not the album sound is very similar to the Uriah Heep sound between 'Salisbury' and the follow-up album 'Look at Yourself'. The Crack in the Cosmic Egg authors Steven and Allan Freeman are right, when they compared it to other German heavy rock stars of the era such as Blackwater Park, Epitaph or Armaggedon. This Uriah Heep versus 'Krautrock-crossover-album' is a must have for each lover of Krautrock. Comes as reproduction of the original cover sleeve with additional insert.

The eponymous 1st Cravinkel album featured blues-folk-rock tracks with slightly psychedelic influences similar to the 1st album of Spooky Tooth. The band was signed by label Philips, which offered them recording facilities in the IBC Studios in London. The recordings done in August 1970 were released at the end of the year. 1971 Cravinkel toured rather successfully with Frumpy and Spooky Tooth. Album comes as an exact reproduction of original album sleeve as poster fold out cover (two times fold out) depicting the band lazing in a rural landscape. Remastered from original mastertape. LP contains two bonustracks from 1971- 7' Keep on running/ Mr. Cooley., band history. A real collectors item. Don't miss it! Limited edition!

CRAVINKEL- Garden Of Loneliness - LP + Poster

LHC – 141

€ 22.00

With their 2nd album Cravinkel left the British terrain of rock-blues music and turned towards a sweeping psychedelic and progressive sound instead. In 1971 they recorded the album 'Garden of Loneliness' together with their new drummer Günther Thoenes (formerly Sphinx Tush). The album starts with the roughly 10 minutes piece 'Sitting in the Forest', showing in many passages that Cravinkel's roots are in the genre of folk-rock. Varying vocals, regularly drifting into the terrain of blues music, accompanied by several guitar tracks and subtle drums create tension and draw the audience's attention. Title song 'Garden of Loneliness', also roughly 10 minutes long, is much diversified and has constant tempi changes. 'Stoned', on the album's B-side, is a true music epic of more than 20 minutes duration. Set pieces characteristic of the post flower and hippie era of the time were incorporated into an overall concept, that allowed for many musical freedoms, displaying a substantial and independent musical potential, much to the joy not just of lovers of psychedelics. Album was remastered from the original master tapes and comes with real great big poster, lyrics and band history. Also a real collectors item. Don't miss it! Limited edition.

DZYAN - Time Machine - CD

LHC – 142

€ 15,00

Originally released in 1973 on famous German label Bacillus, Dzyan’s 2nd album “Time Machine” showed a “new” Dzyan line-up consisting of guitar player Eddy Marron (also playing a lot of other string instruments), bass genius, band founder and “mastermind” Reinhard Karwatky and drummer Peter Giger. Produced by Peter Hauke and recorded and mixed by great engineer Dieter Dierks the trio performed on Time Machine a new sound mutating away from vocal-prog-rock of the first album to explore further jazz and ethnic tonalities with far more space-out and exotic improvisations to an unusual hybrid of acid-rock with serious jazz chops approaching “Mahavishnuland”. Time Machine offers virtuous and unorthodox musicianship with a high and very own esthetic quality. Existing in a no-man’s land between jazz and rock, and as a pre-cursor to the post-rock crowd of the ‘90s, Time Machine was well ahead of its time. A highlight in German rock history. A highlight in German rock history. Compact Disc release from original mastertape, remastered and with 11 pages insert, band history, unseen photos

DZYAN - Electric Silence - CD

LHC – 143

€ 15.00

Originally released in 1974 on famous German label Bacillus, Dzyan’s third and final album, ELECTRIC SILENCE is recognized for its daring world beat elements, and totally acidic album cover art. Dzyan refined their sound even further into improvisation and exotic sounds, mixed with weird experimentations and mysticism. ELECTRIC SILENCE offers other-worldly music of incredible beauty and strangeness, influenced by the music of Asia but taking it into far more original realms. Multi-instrumentalists Marron and Karwatky experimented with sitar, saz, tambura, mellotron, synthesizers, bass-violin, and a mysterious invented instrument called “super-string”, all merged in an extreme melting pot of styles, ideas and fertile imagination, interacting into a “psychedelic worldgroove”; while Giger, bursting with creative power and virtuosity, holds it together with his fantastic drumming. From the weird opium-den trancesoundtrack of “Khali” to the more funky “For Earthly Thinking”, to the even wilder tracks like “The Road Not Taken”, Dzyan crafted one of the finest and most unique works of the Krautrock era. ELECTRIC SILENCE, an amazing work on its own, rhythmically adventurous and unique jazzprog, is indeed one of the landmarks in experimental rock, a masterpiece. A highlight in German rock history. Compact Disc release from original mastertape, remastered and with 11 pages insert, band history, unseen photos

EILIFF - Eiliff - LP

LHC – 151

€ 18.00

For the first time on vinyl Eiliffs eponymous album is a true classic for all lovers of early German rock music. Eiliff were formed in Cologne in the late sixties. Their powerful tour-de-force of complex progressive rock/ jazz-rock fusion can draw comparisons to King Crimson, Soft Machine, Van Der Graaf Generator, or, with regard to German Bands, Nine Days Wonder, Alcatraz oder later groups such as Thirsty Moon. Eiliff had a unique style based on their considerable individual talents. Their first album was recorded in Hamburg in the Star Studio with Conny Plank at the controls. 'Suite' (20:46) was just that furious show of energetic fusion. Guitar player Houschäng Nejadepour added sitar on the only quiet part of the suite. Eiliffs first album will reward the attentive listener (Dag Erik Asbjornson/ Cosmic Dreams At Play). Eiliff had the power of Mahavishnu Orchestra, the invention of Guru Guru and the diversity of Out Of Focus, and really they were purely excessive, with diverse elements blended together as only experienced in Krautrock (A Crack In The Cosmic Egg/ Freeman Brothers). This is all true! Eiliffs first album is a must have for all lovers of the genre. Remastered from the original tapes. Comes with informative booklet based -among others-on notes from keyboarder Rainer Brüninghaus.

Intense chopping piano and organ, along with excellent drums and firm bass guitar providing a structure for a wealth of superb guitar from virtuoso Houschäng Nejadepour, and lots of smooth 'Mother styled' electric sax. Girlrls comes with two bonus tracks from 7 inch 'ride on big brother/ day of the sun', released before Girlrls was published. Album comes with informative insert, based on notes by keyboarder Rainer Brüninghaus. Remastered from original tapes. Also a Must have.

While the 1st album 'Tiger Rock' was quite an ordinary rock 'n' roll album, 'We're The Tiger Bunch' ( 1973 / 1974 ) apparently attempted to create a fuller, more progressive sound with several guest musicians, namely guitar player Rainer Marz, Veit Marvos (organ, piano) and Hanus Berka (sax and flute) from Emergency and Curt Cress (Orange Peel) on drums. This album is for all friends of a heavier guitar sound. Remastered from the original master tape contains an insert with band story and rare photos.

Rock critics classified the album as hard rock with prog leanings or as a heavy rock proto metal album in the vein of Trapeze and Black Sabbath. 'The Princess and the Mistrel' is one of these songs you do once in your musical life, a lyrical epic piece of music with a chorus you will never forget. Their musical elaboration shows a much bigger potential and let the band come forward on a higher musical step. LHC – 160

€ 20.00

This is the first vinyl reissue of legendary Wolfgang Dauners Et Cetera production with Colosseum drummer Jon Hiseman and legendary jazz rock guitar player Larry Coryell. On bass Günter Lenz, at that time one of the best German jazz bass players and on drums - of course - legendary Et Cetera drummer and later Exmagma musician Fred Braceful. German music magazine ,,Sounds' characterised the music as melodic jazz rock with electronic embellishments. In the matter of fact the album starts off with Coryells heavy rock piece ,,A really great escape' and proves to the contemporary heavy and hard rock fans the diversity of interpretations this musical genre has to offer. Many fans hear in that track reminiscences of Jimi Hendrix. On the album Larry Coryells guitar play is mostly rocking and also Günther Lenz on bass proves to be one of the most adept German bassists with his intensive rocking bass play. Knirsch was universally praised and is proof that even rather complex and complicated music can be interpreted without a loss of quality. With Knirsch Wolfgang Dauners Et Cetera opened up to a rock oriented audience once more. This is one of the best German jazz rock albums of all time. Don't miss it. Longtrack ,,Diluvium' (nearly 18 minutes) is a standard heavy rock epic with melancholic guitar breaks, touching melodies, dynamic, captivating organ melodies. Bonustrack ,,Thunderstorm' features ultra doom like heavy guitar, weird, chaotic improvises ambiences. The Freeman brothers (Crack In The Cosmic Egg) described the Aignima sound as a raw and slightly messy kind of hard-edged bluesy rock, sometimes recalling Frumpy, but with a more psychedelic underlying Vanilla Fudge type sound. Amos Key lived in Munich and consisted of great organ-player Thomas Molin, congenial bass-player Andreas Gross and superb drummer Lutz Ludwig. This fairly competent outfit recorded the album on label 'Spiegelei' just after they recorded their radio sessions (Amos Key, Keynotes, The Lost Tapes, SWF Session 1973, Long Hair, LHC 90). Founded by former Thrice Mice members singer and sax player Karl Heinz Blumenberg and guitarist Werner von Gosen Altonas first album could be traced as ,,Thrice Mice deluxe' with still marked ties to Blodwyn Pig. Their musical elaboration shows a much bigger potential and let the band come forward on a higher musical step. The concept of developing a piece of music within processes of group dynamics, which had been so successful with Thrice Mice, was continued. The Freeman Brothers (A Crack in the Cosmic Egg) characterized the album as a hybrid of Birth Control and Creative Rock, occasionally hinting at Eiliff LP comes with insert (Band story and photos). UTOPIA - Utopia - LP

LHC – 175

€ 19.00

Recorded at the same time (July 1972) at the same studio (Bavaria Studios, Munich) as Amon Düül II`s well known and of their best efforts 'Wolf City', Utopia was a common project by Amon Düül II producer and musician Olaf Kübler (saxophone, moog) and Düül bass player Lothar Meid. Using the synergy of the parallel sessions with the Wolf City recordings, Olaf Kübler appreciated Düüls singer Renate Knaup-Krötenschwanz as singer of 2 of the album tracks and Düül heads Weinzierl and Karrer on guitar and violin. There is also a different version of Deutsch-Nepal on the album. As Olaf Kübler reminds Deutsch-Nepal was originally planned to record only for the Utopia album. Musically Utopia has a lot in common with the Düül records 'Wolf City' and 'Viva la Trance' and slightly early Passport and Embryo influences. It's a very worthy and satisfying record with a hypnotic charisma. Originally released in December 1973. Remastered from original master tape and with a true and honest making of story. A masterpiece. Track by track review: The first track 'What You Gonna Do' is a straight-ahead rocker with Renate Knaup singing with her nice and distinctive noise. 'Wolf-Man Jack Show' is a weird song, with Jimmy Jackson at the mysterious 'Choir Organ' (giving off a stranger sound than Mellotron choirs), which he actually utilised on many tracks to good effect. The bass riff here is almost snatched straight from THE BEATLES “ Come Together” played German style. One of the albums highlights. 'Alice' is a sweet love song. The tune itself is care-free and up-lifting and has Lothar playing Mellotron flutes. It reminded of Kevin Ayers. “Las Vegas' is a hippy-sounding jam with congas, jazzy sax playing and a nose-flute.'Deutsch-Nepal' is a remake of the song of the same name of 'Wolf City'. It's heavy sound and strange vocal from guest Rolf Zacher makes it an excellent example of Krautrock. 'Utopia No. 1' is another hippy jam but features those searing organs from Jimmy Jackson and Falk Rogner too, Olaf Kübler toying around with a Moog Synth and bizarre echoed vocals from Meid. Very lovely stuff. 'Nasi Goreng' is a Hammond-heavy instrumental with strong melodies and light oriental moments. It reminds a lot to Viva la Trance 'Im Krater blühen die Bäume'. 'Jazz-Kiste': probably the master-piece composition of the album starring PASSPORT's Christian Schulze on electric-piano and Embryo's Edgar Hofmann playing amazing 'wah-wah' soprano sax almost troughout.

THINK - Variety - LP

LHC – 181

€ 19.00

Think, hailed from Marl, a town in the northern Ruhr area of West - Germany. Founded 1971 by 3 Germans, 2 Hungarians and 1 Czech the group fused together their different cultures into a complex progressive rock featuring flute, violin and guitars in a richly folky and classical intoned style, reminding bands like It´s a beautiful day, Pell Mell, but also Bacillus groups like Omega, Nektar or Epsilon. This inventive mix was most successful on the 14 minutes longtrack 'Draw conclusion from…', a journey through bluesrock, jazzy elements and classical quotations interspersed by melodic vocal parts, sounding more next to California than to dark and heavy Ruhr area. Album comes with comprehensive bandstory by drummer Wördehoff and notes by guitarist Pohl and a lot of rare photos. This is one you have to discover! A secret tip!

PROSPER - Broken Door - LP

LHC – 186

€ 19.00

When in 1975 the five Prosper - Boys recorded their only album 'Broken Door' the band members had already collected many years of experience in music and bands. Guitarist Fritz Fey was also the engineer on the Chicken Bones album 'Hardrock in Concert' from 1976. “Broken Door” contained typical mid-seventies progressive-rock with plenty of mellotrons, moogs and heavy guitars – and is - according to Dag Erik Asbjornsen (Cosmic Dreams at Play) vaguely comparable to a cross between contemporary Zappa, Santana and King Crimson. Dag likes the album (and so are many Krautrock aficionados) and calls it a very fine album, but unfortunately very hard to find! That´s true but now you have the possibility to buy a proper reissue. Drummer Friedhelm Misiejuk played later with Straight Shooter (two albums on Sky-Records) and 2nd guitar player Evert Bretschneider played with spacey jazz-rock combo Contact Trio. Album is new remastered by Longhair sound - wizard Jörg Scheuermann contains story and photos. Limited edition. Secret tip!

TOMORROW`S GIFT - Goodbye Future - LP

LHC – 187

€ 21.00

After the release of the famous and all time classic double - album in 1970 on Plus the five - piece Tomorrow´s Gift split up in 1971, but Manfred Rürup and Bernd Kiefer kept the band going. They recruited Zabba Lindner (drums) from Sphinx Tush and recorded 'Goodbye Future' (1972) as a trio, an ironic title considering the name of the group! According to Dag Erik Asbjornsen (Cosmic Dreams at Play) the album was technical better than the 1.st album as the engineering and production were handled by Conny Plank. The sound of Tomorrow´s Gift had changed completely and now leaned towards instrumental jazz-rock with forceful keyboard and bass-interplay. It was indeed a very varied album: Canterbury-influenced jazz-rock with improvised free jazz parts, general Zappa - esque weirdness and musical jokes. The album wasn´t released until a year after the recordings were completed. The album was well received by all lovers of the genre. When sax- and clarinet player Norbert Jakobsen joined the trio in 1974 the new quartet changed their name to Release Music Orchestra and recorded five albums for Brain label. But that´s another story. Album comes in exact reproduction of original cover (die-cut round whole cover), music remastered by Jörg Scheuermann, band story and rare photos. A real highlight, especially seventeen minutes track “Naturgemäß'. Don`t miss this real gem!!

ERLKOENIG - Erlkoenig - LP

LHC – 188

€ 19.00

This is erlkoenigs self titled eponymous album rereleased, originally published as a private pressing in 1973. The recordings are new remastered and album comes with an informative insert and rare photos. Musically erlkoenig played classically influenced symphonic rock with hints of Krautrock and little reminiscences of the beat era. The music is dominated by the unique sound qualities of the keyboards played by Eckhard Freynik, musically mastermind and band leader. The range critics have heard on the album includes Jethro Tull, King Crimson, Ekseption and a little bit more “arty “John Lennon. The vocals are typical for the time and style nevertheless the band is clearly at their best during the long instrumental parts. “Thoughts” brings some exciting playing on various keyboards especially electric piano and organ. “Blind alley” is another highlight with slightly up-tempo instrumental keyboard dominated symphonic rock but the absolute highlight is delivered by the last piece of the album “Divertimento”. This piece begins almost like classical piano concerto and then built up quite nicely to a fabulous Progtrack. Very classical and for sure the bands finest and most refind moment. After six years with the same line-up the band called it a day in 1977. Their eponymous album for a long time has had a reputation in Kraut - Rock circles as an underground classic. erlkoenig offers largely instrumental music that is one part symphonic rock (Think Trespass - Era Genesis) and one part psychedelic rock. Although it´s a private pressing with a small budget and recorded in a short time it´s a real classic album of the genre. Don´t miss it. Secret tip! Limited edition!

ARKTIS - Arktis - LP

Formed in 1973 in Bonn, West-Germany, the band released their first album the same year. The self titled album revisits a conventional heavy rock style mixed with freak out improvisations largely made of fuzzy guitars. This reissue contains three further titles, recorded with Conny Plank in his own studio near Cologne. On their first album Arktis is a aggressive, rough- edged power-trio fronted by an assertive female vocalist. Originally a privately pressed debut, this album offered on the first side three punchy, stripped down hard rock songs (additional two bonus tracks in the same vein) and on the second cut loose with an astounding 'Rare girl' - twenty minutes of high octane rock jamming, mainly instrumental and principally an outlet for guitarist Klaus Blachut, who cut loose with endless soloing and improvisation, providing a tour de force of progressive, psychedelic and heavy rock guitar styles, running the gamot from Ash Ra Temple to Hawkwind, Black Sabbath and even Status Quo. The affect is simply breath- taking. Bonus track on the second side 'Is it real' is again a catchy hard rock song. Album comes with informative insert including band story and rare photos with greatsupport by guitarist Klaus Blachut. Music is remastered and sounds brilliant. Don´t miss this reissue of a very rare original album.

ARKTIS - Arktis Tapes - LP

LHC – 190

€ 19.00

Second album of Bonn´s (further capital of West- Germany) group Arktis. The original album is an old obscurity that intensely makes an original mix of heavy garage bluesy - rockin´ songs with emphasis on psychedelica sonorities. This gloriously spaced out musical collective celebrates acid fuzz rock with heavy guitars, infectious grooves, really cool rhythmical sections and an hyper active sense of free instrumentation. 'Newrock' opens the album with a surprising heavy-rockin´ song with mind blowing guitar solos and with an evident influence from late 60´s psych rock legends. The vocals are in the hippie-stoned like vein. 'High fly' figures among the strongest pieces, strictly instrumental with wha wha bluesy guitars and a massive psych-doom like heavy ambience. This reproduction of the original album comes with insert including band story and rare photos. Remastered the music sounds brilliant. Don´t miss this reissue of an original very rare album.

EMERALD WEB - Dragon Wings And Wizard Tales - LP

LHC – 191

€ 19.00

This is a real gem and a long time lost jewel in the history of psychedelic and electronic space music. Emerald Web was a music duo consisting of Kat Epple and Bob Stohl, existing from 1978 - 1990. They released 11 albums, of which Dragon Wings and Wizard Tales was the first one, and toured the US constantly, till Bob Stohl passed away in 1990 at the age of 34. Besides the release of 11 albums, Emerald Web composed also soundtracks for a lot of films. Emerald Web created a unique blend of psychedelic and electronic space music and acoustic instruments. Mainly they uses keyboards, digital orchestrations, flutes and lyricon. Lyricon is an unusual hybrid synthesizer/ woodwind instrument that creates a variety of sounds such as electric guitars, oboe and french horn. 'Dragon Wings and Wizard Tales' shows psychedelic folk and rock parts as well as little ambient parts mainly melodic and full of fantasy, a real psychedelic folk (and rock) trip. Album has been remastered and comes with four sided insert which includes comprehensive band story and liner notes to each title by Emerald Web member Kat Epple and all lyrics. There are also rare and unseen photos. A secret tip not only for lovers of the genre but also for people with open minds! Highly recommended.

ASTERIX - Asterix - plus 2 bonus tracks - LP

Lucifer´s friend, German Hard Rock giants (famous 7' Ride The Sky) reformed in 2015 with new material and still touring in 2017 and soon in 2018 saw the day of light in 1970 under band name ASTERIX. They started with two lead singers with equal rights John Lawton and Tony Cavanna, both with a certain 'Robert Plant' - gen, a.k.a. high explosive vocal style. In early 1970 German Hard Rock and psychedelic Hard Rock were waiting for a protagonist. Asterix invented the German Psychedelic Hard Rock and after recording the album with the two vocalists they changed their name to Lucifer´s friend after vocalist T. Cavanna left the band to start a new career as a gospel singer (!). Asterix has not only superb vocalists but also a very explosive and aggressive lead guitar player, Peter Hesslein, and a truly solid rhythm group with bassist Dieter Horns and drummer Addi Rietenbach. Organ player Peter Hecht (the German Jon Lord) completes the band with extraordinary musical abilities. This is the first official release of the album on vinyl with the Bonustracks of 7' from 1970 'Everybody' and 'If I Could Fly', remastered from original recordings out of the vaults of Warner Music. Brilliant sound guaranteed! There is also a band history supported by original guitar player Peter Hesslein, who gently answers to all questions. A must have for lovers of German Psychedelic Hardrock!

MESSAGE - Message - LP

LHC – 192

€ 19.00

This is an official reissue of Message` third album from 1975, remastered from original master tape out of the vaults of Warner Music Germany. A little bit less hard-rock, more prog and slightly jazzy but also song-oriented Message` third eponymous album is in competition for their best album. The opener “Before Dawn” sets the mood perfectly, fading in with a superb melody courtesy of McGuigan on woodwinds. Every instrument sounds just fantastic. Second title 'Thoughts' is a perfect example of McGuigans mastery of the saxophone, sending shivers down your spine with his stretched notes and finishing the intro. Last title 'I Can See The World' showcases one of the two best basslines of the entire album. A wonderful catchy song and very upbeat! Side two starts with 'Waters', definitely a favourite song of many Message fans. The main riff could have come from a King Crimson album, twisted and dissonant. Murdochs offbeat guitar shuffle completing it perfectly, while drummer von Bohr just slams away as tight as one can be. Murdoch`s solo here is the best of the album with an octave - fuzz effect making it sound like hell! The further titles on side two are also great stuff, especially album closer 'Train To Nowhere' is just fantastic. Album comes with story and is remastered from the original mastertape. This is a real classic

MESSAGE - Synapse - LP

LHC – 193

€ 19.00

This is an official reissue of Message` fourth album from 1976, remastered from original master tape out of the vaults of Warner Music Germany. A little bit less hard-rock, more prog and a bit more jazz rock but also song-oriented Message` fourth album “Synapse is fantastic and in competition for their best album beside their eponymous album from 1975. On “Synapse” Message play a combination of compelling rhythms, first class compositions and strong playing. Murdochs continues his quirky experiments with vibrato-tremolo-heavy-guitar-sound. Sometimes it reminds of a less quirky, more linear-version of Kraan and a bit more progressive as the eponymous album from 1975. Very great stuff, slightly underrated by Krautrock-Fans but highly recommended. Cool cover artwork as well, remastered from mastertape. Brilliant sounding! You will love it!

SATIN WHALE - Lost Mankind - LP

LHC – 195

€ 19.00

This is the first official release of Satin Whales second album Lost Mankind, originally released in 1975 on Telefunken - DECCA`s German rock sub-label Nova Records. Satin Whales first album Desert Places had been released in 1974 on Brain and Lost Mankind shows the band refined and in best shape. Satin Whale hailed from Cologne - Bonn region and were founded in 1971 by Thomas Brück (bass and vocals), Horst Schättgen (drums and vocals) and extraordinary keyboarder Gerald Dellmann. The band was complete in 1972, when Bonn based super-guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Dieter Roesberg joined them. With a new drummer Wolfgang Hieronymi, who left the band after the first album, Satin Whale recorded Lost Mankind at the famous Windrose Studio in Hamburg. With the second album the further development of the bands´ sound to a more symphonic style with a corresponding high demand on melody and production was distinctly audible. Great vocals by American guest vocalist Ken Traylor along with alarming guitar wails and resounding Hammond Organ characterized the musical style. Occasional flute playing by Roesberg reminds slightly to Jethro Tull. According to Dag Erik Asbjornsen Satin Whale offered good-quality heavy progressive rock. According to Steve and Alan Freeman (The Crack In The Cosmic Egg) Satin Whale was influenced by many of the bands that had preceded them: Jane, Sahara, Os Mundi,, blending powerful rock ballads with dramatic instrumentals that featured classical and jazz elements and a notable comparison with Camel in the use of keyboards and flute. Lost Mankind is a rather essential album of German rock in the mid-seventies. Vinyl album comes with story and was remastered from the recordings out of the archive of Warner Music Germany. Don´t miss this great album.

SIXTY NINE - Circle Of The Crayfish - LP

LHC – 198

€ 19.00

On their sole studio album 'Circle Of The Crayfish' Sixty Nine played a mixture of symphonic, organ-driven Progressiv- and Krautrock dominated by Armin Stöwes keyboards, supported by Roland Schupps powerful and technical drumming. First title 'Ballast' is a dynamic instrumental rocker with incredible heavy organ playing and steady drumming. 'Kolibri' is more in E.L.P. and Brian Auger vein with alternating jazzy and classical-inspired themes. Good organ und piano through out along with impressive drumming. 'Becoming Older' is the first track with vocals. Actually the vocals are supported by melodic organ-driven rock, soon to be replaced by hard jamming parts, very closed to Frumpy but also reminding Atomic Rooster or Beggars Opera. 'Journey' is very similar, a cross between The Nice, Deep Purple and Frumpy. The 15 minutes 'Paradise Lost' opens with a long intro, featuring synths and gongs to be followed by another very long fast organ/ synths/ drums jamming with repetitive rhythms to the end. The closing 'Crayfish' is dominated by the pounding organ and rocks really hard. “Circle of the Crayfish is a great album with interesting Hammond B-3-driven seventies prog rock. This release is a must have for organ fanatics along with other bands like Odin, 20 Sixty Six and Then, Amos Key and others, as well as for lovers of keyboard-and-drums-oriented duos like Hardin & York, Hansson & Karlsson or Twogether. Album comes with bandstory. Recordings are remastered. Don`t miss it!

SIXTY NINE - Live ! 1974 - 2 LP

LHC – 199/200

€ 28.00

Two years after Sixty-Nine`s debut album, their concert material, called simply 'Live!' was released. This effort however sounded a bit different compared to the first work. It΄s still organ-driven prog-rock but unlike the debut there are more vocal parts and more different sounds from the Hammond organ and Moog synthesizer. There is no title from the first album, so all songs on Live! are completely new. The album starts with “Just right here and now” a song that sounds like a mix of heavy prog α la Atomic Rooster, joyful rock΄n roll and soul/ blues style in the vein of early Joe Cocker. Second track “Red Guitar” is very similar to the previous one, Hammond organ playing are even heavier here but especially moog solos are stunning here. “Seven steps to hell”, last title on first album side delivers dark, atmospheric and deeply psychedelic sounds with a highly energetic and melodic Hammond organ solo in the vein of Keith Emerson during his high-days. Everything is based on magic synths effects background and ultra-busy Roland Schupp`s drum work.Side Two starts with short – rocker “Frenzy feelings” followed by 12:18 min. “Get up”, a typical prog/art rock trip, full of organ solos, electric piano solos and of course moog solos. On first side record two “The confiscated car” starts the second part of the show with a hard-prog song, followed by ten minutes “Bachs΄ broken trumpet”, a heavy piece of music which ends as a typical prog-rock one. Side 4 starts with 12:42 min. “7 Trousers Walter” which reminds a bit to ELP΄s album “Tarkus”, 100 % pure progressive rock from the seventies. The album ends with “Linkies blues”, which offers, no wonder, a very bluesy rhythm and evolves into something like weird and psychedelic, reminding Canterbury rock group Egg. If you like organ-led ELP/ The Nice symphonic stuff mixed with heavy prog α la Atomic Rooster, Frumpy or 2066 & Then you simply need this second Sixty-Nine effort. Double album comes with band story. Recordings are remastered. Don΄t miss it!

For the first time on vinyl, this is one of Long Hairs´ classic items: Jud´s Gallery (CD, LHC 001 and 2nd edition, LHC 061 with bonustrack) with their studio recordings. Jud´s Gallery recorded nine longtracks over two studio sessions in 1972 and 1974. Excellent intelligent progressive-Krautrock, with self composed long tracks drenched in occasional classic and heavy blues rock. These songs have been digitally remastered from the original tape to perfect studio quality. Jud’s Gallery played ambitious Kraut/Progressive rock with worked out epic instrumental passages dominated by great guitar, organ and violin playing , supported by excellent rhythm group bass player and band founder Jürgen 'Judy' Winter and drummer Sibi Siebert (later of Twelve Drummers Drumming fame). Includes the classic “Nordrach” (12 minutes), which apparently influenced the theme of Gary Moore`s “Still got the Blues”. Double album comes with 13 minutes bonustrack 'New Day´s Dawning', recorded 1975 with guitarist Helmut Krieg of Sperrmüll fame. Album comes with a lot of photos and four sided insert with full band story. Limited edition! Don´t miss this Long Hair Classic!

KOLLEKTIV - Kollektiv - 2 LP

LHC – 203/204

€ 28.00

For the first time on Vinyl these are Kollektivs´ legendary recordings in summer of 1973 at Broadcast studio in Germany immediately after the recordings of their first album for famous German label Brain. In addition to these broadcast recordings there is a one sided bonus track from their live tour in 1973, an extraordinary incredible epic version of one of the famous tracks of their first album 'Rambo Zambo', over twenty-four minutes long. Besides that there are three titles which never find the way on vinyl, called TAMBOURA , SUBO and MOLLZITTER. The first incarnation of Kollektiv is the best one. The band`s music style is hard to describe. You will rock rock-blues, jazz and pop elements electronically alienated by echo, ring modulators, octavoice, vibrators and sound filters. Since their formation in early 1970 their music had attracted a growing number of fans and until 1975, when this first formation split up, the group had played in nearly every club in Germany. This two album set comes with comprehensive story and photos on a four sided cover-size booklet. The sound has been especially remastered for the vinyl issue and is brilliant. This is for sure one of the best Long Hair releases ever. Don´t miss it. Highly recommended!

ELECTRIC FOOD - Electric Food - LP

LHC – 205

€ 19.00

For the first time as reissue on vinyl these two amazing records feature members of original Lucifer`s Friend with vocalist George Mavros who played with pre-Lucifer`s Friend German Bonds together with the other four musicians. The records are very heavy early German hardrock with psychedelia and are comparable with bands like Epitaph but Electric Food are even heavier than that, as a critic wrote: 'it's so heavy kind and of as heavy as when Mountain did a cover of Satisfaction in 1974'. These records are not only for aficionados who like the first two Lucifer` Friend records but also love especially the early 70ths Hardrock/ Metal or Acidrock. According to Discogs Electric Food sounds like a mix of Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Uriah Heep influences + inch of Krautrockish psychedelica . We also hear great early Spooky Tooth influences. Extraordinary guitar player Peter Hesslein composed most of the tracks while Monroe wrote the lyrics. There are also some cover versions like 'Whole Lotta Love' and 'House Of The Rising Sun' (based on Frijid Pink´s remake). On “Flash” you hear 'Love Like A Man' by Ten Years After with stunning guitar work by Peter Hesslein and famous Free`s “Allright Now”. Originally released on low budget label EUROPA, these two very underground classics did not get the attention they deserved. It's interesting to know, that several tracks feature portions of the riff found in the tracks of Lucifer`s Friend first album. Loads of heavy guitar, some with a wicked fuzz laden sound such as 'Nosferatu' along with continuous Hammond keys, pulsating bass lines and solid drumming which are the glue for this great endeavour. On the album there are many hard rock monsters and heavy psych rock tunes. originally released 1970, Germany Remastered and with band history. Don't miss these limited editions of 500. Play loud!

ELECTRIC FOOD - Flash - LP

LHC – 206

YOUNG FLOWERS - On Air - 2 LP

LHC – 207 / 208

€ 30.00

This is the first release of famous Danish group Young Flowers live recordings on vinyl broadcasted from Danish Radio in 1969/ 1970. In 1967 when rock music changed for good with the appearance of psychedelic rock and powerful blues trios like Cream and Jimi Hendrix Experience, it did not take long for Danish musicians to adopt the trio form and develop their own unique progressive sound. The most influential and long lasting of these early Danish groups was the power-trio Young Flowers from Copenhagen. Peer Frost, guitar, vocals, Peter Ingemann, bass and vocals and Ken Gudman on drums used extreme sound levels, controlled distortions, feedback and endless improvisations expressed in a trio form like no other Danish group did. After two well received albums Young Flowers called it a day in 1970. In the end of 1969 and early 1970 they played a lot of shows, which were broadcasted from Danish Radio. A gigantic version of Steppenwolf 'The Pusher', more than thirteen minutes long, opens Side one of the 2LPs-set and showed the power trio at it´s best, great guitar work supported by very solid drums and bass gave the music the ground to start in higher regions. With some tracks supported by flute and sax player Bent Hesselmann (of Rainbow Band and Midnight Sun fame) and ultra super guitar player Peter Thorup, the power trio expanded to a five musician super group which left for all fans of this great music a legacy of psychedelic and blues rock at it´s best. Ten titles on a double vinyl set with a running time about 80 minutes. This is truly great stuff. 2-LPs set comes in wonderful psychedelic colour gatefold sleeve including pictures of the band and with an insert with comprehensive band story by Danish rock expert Claus Rasmussen. A must have for all lovers of the genre. Limited edition! Don`t miss it!

CORPORAL GANDER'S FIRE DOG BRIGADE - On The Rocks - LP

LHC – 213

€ 19.00

Originally released in 1970 on Europa Records, a German exploitation label (Electric Food, Petards a.o.), this is the first effort of five guys, who later - with a new singer - became famous Krautrocker Wind with their two extraordinary albums 'Seasons' and ' Morning' (both reissued on Long Hair as CD and LP). Without Wind singer Steve Leistner but with singer Franz Seeberger the Corporals were a really hard rocking psychedelic band presenting some popular contemporary hit - songs (Paranoid/ Black Sabbath/ The Stealer/Free/) and own stuff. The music of their own compositions can be described as Krautrock - Hard - Psyche (discogs), always with a catchy melody and high energy power. If you like the idea of the legendary group Wind 1st album (Seasons) playing in a more straight forward heavy rock psyche style, this is the album for you. LP comes with insert including band story. Secret tip!

STAGG - SWF- Session 1974 - CD

LHC – 214

€ 15.00

The history of the Long hair label starts with the release of recordings of more or less unknown bands from the late sixties/ early seventies, who run a band competition in former German radio station SWR (South West Broadcast) and received with the recordings a wider public. A few of them like My Solid Ground, Kraan, became famous and recorded a lot of albums on well known German Krautrock labels. Others like Coupla Prog, Puppenhaus, Papa Zoot or Jud´s Gallery played and recorded their music at the radio studio but received no official record deal and most of the band members started a career in an other profession. STAGG, four guys from Frankfurt, all students are one of the very best who recorded at the SWF. Well trained on their instruments flute and sax, organ and keyboard, guitar, bass, and drums STAGG recorded the five tracks, all in all about 40 minutes of amazing and extra ordinary music. They are a real gem! The music is full of energy, amazing melodies and surprise twists. The sound is absolutely unique and reminds a mix of Gomorrha´s playing on their second album, a more rocking version of Thrice Mice or early Thirsty Moon but also of Jethro Tull at times of Benefit or Aqualung. Two long tracks (each about ten minutes) which allowed the musicians to show their musical abilities with a surprising organ and keyboard sound, often unisono with sax or flute, a rocking guitar with slightly Spanish interjections, very tight bass and drums playing with a drummer playing in 'an always getting forward' style. This Frankfurt band played a lot of concerts in Frankfurt area but also Berlin, Munich, Hamburg or Cologne clubs. The music is really amazing and the melodies played by guitar, keyboard and flute and sax reach your heart and brain and after the album finishes, you will start to hear it again and again. This is one of Long Hair´s finest albums ever. We are very proud to release it after seven years for searching for the guys who played this unique sound! Front- and backcover are from a original painting by famous German painter Helmut Wenske (covers for NEKTAR, Dzyan and many more other Bacillus bands) . CD comes with 24 pages booklet (vinyl album with gatefold sleeve and four sided full coloured insert) with band story, a lot of photos and other notes. The radio recordings were remastered and the sound is brilliant. Don´t miss this yet unknown but soon legendary sound. A MASTERPIECE!!!

SECRET OYSTER - Secret Oyster - LP

LHC – 216

€ 19.00

This is the first official re-release of Danish act Secret Oyster`s debut album and the first of a series of 4 reissues of Secret Oyster legacy of 4 fantastic albums from 1973-1976. Originally it was released through CBS Records in November 1973. Secret Oyster was founded by former members of Burnin´ Red Ivanhoe, Coronarias Dans and Hurdy Gurdy, all well professional and prolific Danish musicians. On their first album, internationally also sold under the name Furtive Pearl, the band play a jamming, slightly psychedelic type of instrumental prog -jazz-rock with strong and memorable themes which provide some hooks to hold on to. Dominant instruments on the album are guitar, organ/ electric piano and alto/ soprano saxes, latter played by Karsten Vogel who is known for his great work with Burnin´ Red Ivanhoe. The drums keep a steady driving beat throughout most of the album and formed with the bass a swinging rhythm section driving the music forward with constant energy. This is a fantastic album for lovers of the type of progressive rock with jazzy influences featuring long, improvised and instrumental sequences with a hard rocking rhythm section playing with unbelievable energy. Secret Oysters´ first album is a real tour de force, a high quality progressive jazz-rock album you shouldn´t miss. Album comes with band story and rare photos. Remastered from original tape with brilliant sound. Extremely great stuff!

SECRET OYSTER - Sea Son - LP

LHC – 217

€ 19.00

This is Secret Oysters second step to stardom. When Secret Oysters first album (LHC 216) was a monumental debut, 'Sea Son' is a monster of an album type slightly psychedelic progjazz rock with clever use of electric piano and moog synthesisers along with a strong dose of melodic sax lines while Bohlings impressive guitar work really shines through and rules (listen to 9:16 long mind movie). A lot of furious solos and just a few soft ones mostly by guitar and sax, remarkable interplays between keyboards and sax, inventive breaks are also basic elements of this fantastic album. The work of Staehr on bass is outstanding and pushed the rhythm section more in direction Rock than Jazz. Album comes with insert, including story by Karsten Vogel and rare photos. Remastered. A truly fantastic album. Comes with one bonus track.

SECRET OYSTER - Vidunderlige Kælling - LP + 2 bonus tracks

LHC – 218

€ 19.00

Vidunderlige Kælling is the third full-length studio album by Danish progrock jazz/ fusion act Secret Oyster. The album was made specifically and on request for a ballet of the same name starring one of the greatest Danish female ballet dancers at the time Vivi Flindt (it's Vivi posing naked on the cover of the album). The music on this album was composed simultaneously with the tracks that would make up the 4th full-length studio album by Secret Oyster called 'Straight To The Krankenhaus', which was published a year later. The music on Vidunderlige Kælling was meant for more structured setting than the band's usually more jamming approach, but the majority of the music still sound unmistakably like Secret Oyster though just a bit less jamming. It means progrock jazz fusion on a very high level. Weather Report is the most obvious reference, but Secret Oyster in opposite to Weather Report had a amazing guitarist in the line up who gave them a different sound and makes it more a rock than a jazzrock band. As on the albums before the music is freely instrumental and while there are guitars soloing in the bands music, now it is sax player Karsten Vogel and keyboard player Kenneth Knudsen who are mostly in focus. The production is excellent and worthy. Again a great album by a rather underrated band. Album comes with insert, including story by Karsten Vogel and rare photos. All Secret Oyster albums are limited edition. Comes with two bonus tracks.

SECRET OYSTER - Straight To The Krankenhaus - LP

LHC – 219

€ 19.00

Straight to the Krankenhaus is the 4th full-length studio album by Danish progrock-jazz/ fusion act Secret Oyster. The album was composed and recorded simultaneously with Vidunderlige Kælling (1975) but was not released until late 1976/ early 1977. Many fans regard this album as the best work Secret Oyster ever did. And maybe they are right, because the brand of progrock jazz/ fusion on this album is very catchy and while there are plenty of soloing by sax and guitar the songs never drag or drown in excessive soloing. The band is exceptionally well playing and their play corresponds to the songs on the album as high quality compositions. It's for sure that Secret Oyster had specialised an energy instrumental jazzy progrock for several years before this final album, and the maturity of their craft by this point reached a peak. The album starts with brief 'Lindance' and it's merely a 'dramatic overture' to pieces ahead. Next of which is the also brief title track introducing a catchy almost playful new theme of the electric piano as well as title 8-bar bursts of invention by electric guitar player Claus Boling. After this rather short tracks the album kicks into gear with 'My Second Hand Rose', the first spot that sax player, bandleader and primary composer Karsten Vogel really gets to shine. Throughout this song and most of the album, he is basically singing lead with his sax, and later in the track guitarist Boling gets another solo of utter perfection. And the album gets better from there, 'High Luminant Silver Patterns' lays down a furious space groove as Boling once again sets the world on fire. 'Delveaux' is an extended meditation piece of outer space beauty. It takes you on a journey witch ends with Vogels exciting 'Travel and Elephants'. The music gets louder and more frantic as it goes, culminating in an ecstatic finale. The final track, Boling's 'Leda and the Dog' is one of the more emotionally involving pieces on the album. Nine songs and barely a moment wasted. Fantastic nontrivial melodies, great solos, all played by players who have mastered their instruments so well they have no need to show off. Really fantastic! Album comes with liner notes by Karsten Vogel and rare photos, including one bonus track. Extremely great stuff!

DENNIS - Hyperthalamus - LP

LHC – 225

€ 19.00

This is the first official reissue on vinyl of ultra rare legendary album 'Hyperthalamus' of Hamburg group Dennis. Dennis were a kind of session group including a collection of musicians from Frumpy, Tomorrow´s Gift, Thirsty Moon, Xhol, playing free-rock to enthusiastic festival goers (according to A crack in the cosmic egg). Leading member was Frumpy drummer Carsten Bohn (the band was named after his son). But keyboarder Manne Rürup (of Tomorrow´s Gift fame), Michael Kobs and Willi Pape (of Thirsty Moon fame) were musicians with equal rights and certainly great musical abilities. 'Hyperthalamus' comes across as a collection of extracts from acid-jams and freak-outs with a hybrid of progressive, psychedelic and cosmic styles, notably elements of late Tomorrow´s Gift, Thirsty Moon, and even hints of Embryo and Guru Guru: a musical melting pot of surprising diversions and fusion sounds (acc. to A crack in the cosmic egg). The album is ultra rare and we are happy to present it to a proper price for all lovers of the music of above named comparable music groups of the time. Thanks to Warner Music for given us the opportunity to use the recordings from their archive to receive the best sounding as possible. This first edition comes as limited edition with band story and mastering. As the reviewer in 'A crack in the cosmic egg' writes: “It´s a little known classic”. It should be known! Don´t miss it!

The instrumental album ist very flute and electric piano driven, with very exciting guitar playing accompanied by a rocking drumming with slightly jazzy influences and nimble bass lines, very tight! Many mention Supersister as a comparison, Kraan`s first album, or Brainstorm or Mel Collins` Circus (Crack in the cosmic egg ), but all this is not really true. In fact the music is very unique, not typical Krautrock, but psychedelic, complex but very tuneful, slightly Jazzrock influences and a little bit British Canterbury sound. Many flute soloing, exciting great fuzzing guitar soloing and an impressing electric piano sound with that special teutonic Krautrock feel, this is Tortilla Flat on their sole album, hard to describe but really great and pleasent to listen to and for sure a classic German progressive underground album. Played by well trained musicians with great composition skills. Album insert and CD booklet comes with full band story, rare and unseen photos. CD has 2 Bonus Tracks, not from the album but from a concert in autumn 1974. All titles are remastered and the sound ist brillant. Long Hair is not only proud to present Tortilla Flat`s legendary sole album „für ein ¾ Stündchen“, on vinyl, LHC 230 and on cd with 2 bonus tracks, LHC 229, but also the groups a lot more legendary broadcast sessions for Germany`s leading underground and Krautrock program on radio SWF (look for the further recordings in this series on LongHair). The mainly instrumental album is very flute and in opposite to the latter album electric violin driven, with very exciting guitar playing accompanied by a rocking drumming and nimble bass lines, very tight! AND VERY TEUTONIC! There were not so many progressive rock bands in the early 1970ties with were flute and violin dominated, not to forget the great solo play of lead guitarist Manfred Herten. An early version of their main opus “Tortilla Flat” shows the band with violinist Werner Knauber and Herman Basten on flute at its best, a dramatic increase with great tunes. In fact the SWF Sessions` music is very unique, typical Krautrock, psychedelic, complex but always very tuneful. Many flute soloing, exciting great fuzzing guitar soloing and an impressing electric violin sound with that special teutonic Krautrock feel, played by well trained musicians with great composition skills. Besides the longtracks there are three short titles which set music to three poems of famous German poet Christian Morgenstern with great vocals by Manfred Herten. It was a little sensations that rehersal recordings with violinist Werner Knauber was found which led to 3 great sounding bonus tracks, a.o. 10 minutes long title “Suite”, another extraordinaire longtrack. Album insert and CD booklet come with full band story, rare and unseen photos. CD has 3 bonus tracks. All titles are remastered and the sound is brillant. A must have for all lovers of the great German Underground and Krautrock music in the1970ties. Highly High Recommended!

SECRET OYSTER - Striptease - CD + bonus tracks

LHC – 228

€ 15.00

The recordings of „Striptease“ were a long time lost. In 1975 Scret Oyster had reached broad acceptance in Danish cultural life and on the music scene. Their 3rd album „Vidunderlige Kaelling (Astarte), reissued on vinyl and CD by LongHair, received massive media attention and a big audience. After finishing the rcordings for their 4th album „Straight to Krankenhaus“ (also reissued on vinyl and CD by LongHair) the band was pleased to work on the recordings for another „Ballet“ with working title „Striptease“ by famous choreographer Flemming Lindt. The recordings took place in May 1976, 8 tracks, all composed by saxophone and keyboard player Karsten Vogel and further keyboarder Kenneth Knudsen. Musically a mixture of the 3rd and 4th album with 7 minutes highlight „Pas de Deux“ which features Claus Böhling on guitar at his best. Great athmospherique music, dominated by organ and sax, wonderful melodies: these recordings had that special Secret Oyster feeling; great stuff, intelligent fusion rock with changing moods. First official reissues under license of Warner Music! Hard Meat were a british progressiv rock group (1969 - 1971), founded by Brothers Mick (guitar and vocals )and Steve Dolan (bass) and completed by American drummer Mick Carless. The first recordings were a 7“ on Island label in 1969, but dropped bei Island the band very soon reappeared with 2 long players on Warner Brother Records in early 1970 and late 1970, which today are very sought after by all lovers of late sixties early seventies guitar oriented british progressive and psychedelic rock 1970's 'Through a Window' was a modest departure from the debut. On a song-for-song basis the sound wasn't as 'rock' oriented, but the band made up for that with a more varied and dynamic sound. This time out you also got to hear plenty of Mick Dolan's dexterity on acoustic guitar (check out 'Freewheel' and 'A Song of Summer'). Featuring another set of largely original material co-written by the three band members, these guys were one of the tightest trios you ever heard. Very few wasted notes on any of these tracks. All hyperbole aside, Michael Dolan was one of rock's most overlooked singers and lead guitarists. Similarly, brother Steve and drummer Carless made for a dynamic rhythm section, capable of way more than the standard hard rock trio repertoire.

EPIZOOTIC - Daybreak - LP

LHC – 235

€ 19.00

Epizootic`s sole album is very rare one and in good shape a very expensive album if you are looking for an original one. We are proud to present the first official re-release of this album, first issued in 1976 by Epizootic as a private pressing. Their music could be described as raw hard rock with psychedelic flavours, dominated by organ and guitar. Breaks and tempo changes within the titles are responsible for a diversified album. In his book „Scented garden of the mind“ Dag Erik Asbjornsen declares: Epizootic made one of the most obscure Swedish heavy rock albums, in a joyful style reminiscent of Fuzzy Duck and early Atomic Rooster. Album has been re-remastered from an early CD self-release by the band and gains a better sounding. On the insert, keyboarder Lars Liljegren tells the band’s story and some never before seen photos show the band in their glorious days. Don’t miss the limited edition of this extremely rare album. Recommended.

Six epic tracks, such as „Rotating Irons“ (8:25) and „Secret Oyster“ (9:45), both offering interesting and exciting interplay between sax and keyboard player Karsten Vogel, flautist, trombone and tenor sax player Kim Menzer and extraordinary guitarrist Ole Fick, driven by an absolute tight bass and drums rhythm section formed by Jess Staehr and Bo Thrige Anderson. Karsten Vogel`s versatile songwriting (he composed 5 out of 6 tracks) dominates and he also had not forgotten to write enchanting „pop“ songs either – „Near the Sea“ is a minor masterpiece of 4 minutes. € 19.00

Burnin Red Ivanhoe in their most fertile phase of existing from 1969 till 1972, were one of Danish finest groups from the period. Their innovative and powerful mixture of Psychedelic and Progressive Rock along with mild experimental or Jazz influences gained some international recognition in Germany, UK and the U.S.. Comparisons might be drawn to Traffic, Jethro Tull, Pink Floyd and Colosseum (Dag Erik Asbjornsen). Being tired of demanding tours, Burnin Red Ivanhoe decided to disband in spring 1972. Before this they recorded „Miley Smile – Stage Recall“ during an eight hour session live in the studio on 16/4/1972. Apart from a short rendition of „Ivanhoe I Brondbyerne“ from first album „M144“, all material was fresh from their current tour programm including some never before released titles. This album underlines the band`s perfect live play abilities, the exceptional skills of the musicians playing their instruments. For more than 2 years this was the band`s last recording, as Karsten Vogel starts a new band with new musicians the also high preciated „Secret Oyster“ (5 albums, all on Long Hair, CD and Vinyl versions). ODIN - Odin - LP + poster

LHC – 239

€ 19,00

Vinyl-Reissue of German/English/Dutch formation ODIN. The album’s highlight is opening track “Life is only”. This is an absolutely great 12-minutes number with raging, dissonant Hammond B-3 work, refined song constructions and very good guitar and vocal work. Another highlight is a 8-minutes version of Quartermass classic “Gemini” with features also a long and impressive B-3 organ solo. “Clown” closes the original album out with some heavy instrumental firepower from Jeff Beer keyboards and strong vocals. LP comes with a reproduction of original poster (60x60) and a comprehensive insert including personal liner notes by Ray Brown, press reviews and many rare photos. The special remastering from a digital copy of original tape guarantees a brilliant sounding. Hot stuff and highly recommended. Don`t miss this limited edition!

ODIN - SWF Session - LP + bonus track

LHC – 240

EUR 19.00

Founded in summer 1971 in Germany by German organ player Jeff Beer, Dutch guitarist Rob Terstall and English bass player Ray Brown and drummer Stuart Fordham ODIN is one of German-Rockmusic-history greatest mystery. Information about the band is rather rare and with this album (for the first time on vinyl, CD release LHC 56 with different Bonustrack) all lovers of progressive rock music of the early seventies will be excellent informed about this great band. The music is played by well educated musicians who play a high level guitar and organ dominated progressive rock. After the release of there one and only album on the famous Vertigo label in 1972 (reissued by Long Hair on vinyl LHC 239 and CD LHC 58) ODIN were invited by German radio SWF to produce 4 titles for a radio show in February 1973. A 12-minutes version of “Live is only” and an 11-minutes version of the Zappa composition “King Kong” are fine examples for ODIN's terrific musicianship. Zappa`s “Oh no” (6:30) and the Terstall composition “Turnpike lane” make the radio recording session complete. In addition to the radio recordings there is a 13minutes live version of Frank Zappa`s classic title Oh No, which is an impressive example of the bands live works. All titles are remastered. Album comes with comprehensive band history and a lot of rare photos. Don’t miss this truly gem.

LITTLE FREE ROCK - Little Free Rock - LP

LHC – 241

EUR 19.00

This is the first official release under licensed courtesy of BMG Rights Management,UK, remastered from an original master copy out of the vaults of BMG. Little Free Rock, a classic trio from Preston, Lancashire, founded in 1969, were one of the first psychedelic and or progressive rock efforts of folk label Transatlantic (a.o. Jody Grind, Circus with Mel Collins). They released their eponymous album in November 1969. Although underrated in times of release till today this album is definitely one of the many gems of the UK underground in the late sixties, early seventies. It`s a brillant guitar-based psychedelic album filled with hypnotizingly melodic yet dynamic songs, with great memorable riffs and solos all over. As one critic wrote „It`s got the heavy, It`s got the light, It`s got the blues, it`s got the psyche and it`s uninhibited all the way! Although all 9 titles are great, a highlight is the more than 10 minutes version of The Creation track „Making Time“. Other critics compare their music and stated similarities to The Open Mind, The Dark or Bulldog Breed with lots of fuzz guitar and great vocals. The original recordings were carefully and proper remastered. Album comes with very comprehensive bandstory by guitarrist Pete Illingsworth, a lot of photos summed up in a 4-sided cover- sized coloured insert sheet. Don`t miss this eloquent testimony of great musicianship of the late sixties, early seventies. A masterpiece!

QUICKSAND - Home Is Where I Belong - LP

LHC – 242

EUR 19.00

This is the first official re-release on vinyl under licensed courtesy of BMG Rights Management,UK, remastered from an original master copy out of the vaults of BMG. Originally released in 1973 on Transatlantic progressive rock label Dawn this underrated Welsh group convinces with great songwriting and musicianship! There are similarities with Fantasy, early Jonesy, Spring or Cressida, also a distinct Quicksilver Messenger Service 1960’s “West Coast” sound influence. You hear plenty of guitars, electric and acoustic, and organ and mellotron to satisfy the 1970’s progressive rock heads. Also the partly polyphonic vocals are really magnificent. There are two tracks that clear the 8 minute mark that are really overtly progressive pieces and are truly brilliant. Also they have a psychedelic feel , the atmosphere, the arrangements remind of the very early '70's. The album is well constructed alternating from pure heavy prog pieces like Sunlight Brings Shadows, Seasons - Alpha Omega, Overcome The Pattern/ Flying, or the title track Home is where I belong, with similarity with Uriah Heep ( Demons and wizards era) to mellower ones like Empty Street Empty Heart, with a beginning in an absolutly Beatles atmosphere. The original recordings were carefully and proper remastered. Album comes in a gatefold sleeve with bandstory summed up in a 2-sided cover sized insert sheet. Don`t miss this definitely hidden classic from the almost infinite and fertile British 70’s scene.

JONESY - No Alternative - LP

LHC – 245

SOON

This is the official re-release on vinyl under licensed courtesy of BMG Rights Management,UK, remastered from an original master copy out of the vaults of BMG, originally released in 1972 on Transatlantic progressive rock label Dawn. JONESY were an early 70's progressive rock outfit whose albums were reputedly delicate, melodic affairs, somewhat similar to King Crimson and with a lot of mellotrons V.Joynson, Tapestry of Delights). They recorded three albums on the Dawn Label 'No Alternative', 'Keeping Up' and 'Growing' (all now newly reissued on vinyl by Long Hair). All are strong with the aforementioned KING CRIMSON influences. The music is very British sounding and holds similarities to other bands of the day, apart from King Crimson to name a few Tonton Mocoute, Ben, Spring and others in that field. The really heavy use of mellotron gives the music that particular sound of early prog. Just like Spring, Jonesy makes emotive prog which is both epic and melodious. All three album are great stuff! The interplay between the mellotron and fuzzed out and sometimes screaming guitar is excellent and bridges the early progressive rock with the early type of hard rock, making it heavy and complex. While the album generally is very much on the hard rock side of things, there are mellow exceptions such as the gorgous 'Heaven' and 'Pollution'. These are epic, long tracks with beautiful mellotron and very emotive soundscapes. The track 'Ricochet', also released as a single (B-side is bonustrack), is a tremendous rockin` track. Really rough, crude and blessed with wah-wah guitar. No Alternative is an excellent diversified debut you want to hear again and again! It`s a fine slice of strangely- undervalued prog from a finely-tuned British outfit. Albums comes with 2 bonustracks and comprehensive bandstory. All tracks are remastered. Don`t miss this high quality album! Limited Edition!

JONESY - Keeping Up- LP

LHC – 246

This is the official re-release on vinyl under licensed courtesy of BMG Rights Management,UK, remastered from an original master copy out of the vaults of BMG, originally released in 1972 on Transatlantic progressive rock label Dawn. JONESY were an early 70's progressive rock outfit whose albums were reputedly delicate, melodic affairs, somewhat similar to King Crimson and with a lot of mellotrons V.Joynson, Tapestry of Delights). The first few pieces on KEEPING UP with the dominant Mellotron, the well-crafted vocals, the smooth string/piano lines and the mix of calm and more passionate material showcase why Jonesy were fairly compared to KING CRIMSON and Spring. Discreet psychedelic touches, jazzy guitar and trumpets and symphonic Mellotron offer a consistent blend of different influences. There are hard rock passages on here as well but the overall complexity and diversity is more to the fore, making 'Keeping up' a much more entertaining affair. The mellotron is also augmented by brass and strings this time around, which also adds to the emotive side of the music. From the opening 'Masquerade', to the ever so beautiful and emotive 'Sunset and evening star' and onward 'Keeping up' is filled with great music. Inventive, bustling with ideas and visions. The jewel in the crown is the last track, the most epic and perfect realized 'Children'. The presence of brass, stabbing and hitting with extreme precision, and the lyrics in conjunction with the shifting sections of music means that this track is one of almost perfect progressive pedigree. For some critic 'Keeping up' is Jonesy's best album and some critic once wrote that Jonesy was the best progressive band you've never heard and that is true enough. Their music, especially on 'Keeping up', is just as great as other bands of the era and anyone with an interest in the origins of prog would do well to listen to them. Albums comes with comprehensive bandstory. All tracks are remastered. Don`t miss this high quality album! Limited Edition!

JONESY - Growing - LP

This is the official re-release on vinyl under licensed courtesy of BMG Rights Management,UK, remastered from an original master copy out of the vaults of BMG, originally released in 1972 on Transatlantic progressive rock label Dawn. The really heavy use of mellotron gives the music that particular sound of early prog. Just like Spring, Jonesy makes emotive prog which is both epic and melodious. All three album are great stuff! The third album Growing was released in the same year as Keeping up, starting off with 'Can you get that together', a rather harsh and energetic piece of rock with slightly jazz influences. Slightly askew and bordering on free-form, just enough to keep it on track, it is an interesting track and a great way to start off an album. Energy, stamina and power. The two following tracks are a bit on the mellow side. 'Know who your friends are' boasts a great first section, heading into a spacious and jazzy middle part before heading straight back into the sound which opened up the song. 'Hard road' is a jazz-rock piece with distorted trumpet and energetic, almost funky feel to it. The track 'Jonesy' is an instrumental affair which is a fitting testament to one of the great forgotten bands of the 70's. It leaves them hanging on a high note. Growing is well produced, played and full of vision. Albums comes with comprehensive bandstory. All tracks are remastered. Don`t miss this high quality album! Limited Edition!

TEMPEST - Tempest - LP

LHC – 243

SOON

This is the first official re-release on vinyl under licensed courtesy of BMG Rights Management,UK, remastered from an original master copy out of the vaults of BMG. Originally released in 1973 on Bronze, Island this is the 1st album by the UK heavy Progrock group Tempest, formed by famous drummer Jon Hiseman following the breakdown of the original Colosseum lineup. It includes Colosseum bassist Mark Clarke, guitar and violin are handled by the brilliant Allan Holdsworth and vocals by one of the strongest UK vocalists Paul Williams (ex-Juicy Lucy). The music is a mixture of really virtuoso and energetic Hard Rock/ Heavy Rock performances with slightly Jazzrock (Colosseum) influences. Absolutely at the peak of hard-rock, with blinding musical prowess of a certain kind, this is a grower... the riffs, composition, rhythms, and melodies are pretty fantastic, better than 90 percent of the highly regarded output by Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, or Black Sabbath, as one critic wrote. Listen to this great album, sadly often quite forgotten. The original recordings were carefully and proper remastered. Album comes as a reproduction of the original gimmick cover with bandstory, photos and lyrics summed up in a 4-sided cover sized insert sheet. A must to all Hard/ Heavy Progrock fans!

Living In Fear - LP

LHC – 244

SOON

This is the first official re-release on vinyl under licensed courtesy of BMG Rights Management,UK, remastered from an original master copy out of the vaults of BMG. Originally released in 1974 on Bronze, Island this is the 2nd (and last) official album by the UK heavy Progrock group Tempest, formed by famous drummer Jon Hiseman following the breakdown of the original Colosseum lineup. 2nd incarnation includes, still as before, Colosseum bassist Mark Clarke, but (after former guitarrist Allan Holdsworth left) new on guitar, keyboards and vocals (former vocalist Paul Williams had to leave the group due to alcohol problems), Ollie Halsall of Patto fame! Halsall`s playing is simply glorious throughout, blending jazz-rock and accurate heavy rock. He also plays various keyboard on the album, adding to the progressive textures of the music. Moreover, Halsall proves to be a very exciting and gifted vocalist! Mark Clark (Colosseum, Uriah Heep) still is a great groovy & melodic bass-player.The songs have rock 'n roll, heavy rock, art-rock and jazz-rock influences. The band has an intense feel and well performed vocals that give the music an extra push. Within the song Tempest manages to integrated progressive elements (rhythms, chords-changes, original harmonies) without loosing that fine rockin' atmosphere. During some extended solo-sections the band freely shoes how brilliant it can play, with the guitars of Halsall being especially exciting, the tracks are very catchy and uplifting.Like most early heavy progressive rock groups Tempest must have been unable to find its audiance, being to progressive for rockers and to straightforward for symphonic prog listeners. If you like heavy prog like May Blitz and Captain Beyond this will surely please your ears. Fans of Uriah Heep, Deep Purple, Thin Lizzy (because of the melodic bass) and Colosseum might also want to give this album a try. The original recordings were carefully and proper remastered. Album comes as a reproduction of the original gimmick cover with bandstory and photos summed up in a 4-sided cover sized insert sheet. Like Tempest`s 1st album this is a must to all Hard/ Heavy Progrock fans!
